UPDATE:

he has drank a little, has ate 4 super worms, 20 crickets and some veggies!!! he is holding his eyes open a little more and the fact he can keep them open long enough to chase down some crickets kind of tell me that the potential damage to his eyes is repairable. is beard is back to a shade of yellow rather than black. :D

Thank you for your support and help!! you guys are great :)
Wow, that's great to hear. :D It's amazing that he ate so well today, you must be very relieved. How is he handling the saline flushes? Were you able to get the temps right with a standard household lightbulb?

The Vet said he looked healthy. Before I left for vet he was actively seeking out crickets, while at vet he was active but since we got home he is back to his lathargic self again where he lays in 1 spot with eyes closed. I got him out last nigh and he just laid on my chest and didnt move a inch. usually he is atleast looking around or moving from my lap to my shoulder or something to that affect.

so I dont know, I am at a loss here on what is actually going on with him. maybe the vet was tramatic to him? they wieghed him and felt his abdomen, looked in his eyes and into his mouth. nothing really that intrussive.

I do have a question that I just thought of that the Vet said I can do(unrelated to this issue). He said that I could feed the dragon egg whites and crush the egg shells into a powder to use as a calcium suppliment.. is this true?

Thanks for the update. Well, the vet appt probably was traumatic for him but it doesn't seem like he should be lethargic and laying with his eyes closed again. What are you using right now for bulbs in his tank? When you take the temps with the probe, are you laying the probe right on the basking area and waiting about 45 min for the temp to stop rising? Have you been keeping him well hydrated? Do you have any idea what the humidity in his tank is? Did he eat at all today and are his eyes still closed?

Regarding the egg shells, I have never really heard of that, but it does seem like a lot of work having to crush the shells into a powder. Have you been using calcium and vitamin supplements? What brand & how often? What have you been using to clean his tank?

I agree with Diane...the vet visit should not have made him feel any worse. Yes, it is true that you can crush up egg shells for calcium, but like Diane mentioned it would be alot of work. You may as well just buy the calcium supplements for your beardie, unless you don't mind crushing the shells. From what I have heard about it...one medium egg shell will give you a half of a tsp crushed. People actually do this...it is very beneficial to those with bone diseases.

Hi,

I have a regular household bulb in it 100w and am having to use my UV tube light at the moment. The temp is too low at the moment and I cannot get the temp above 93.8 degrees. I am going out today to find (even if I have to drive the entire state :D ) a decent light.

I have sand (playsand) in the tank and i have a very fine sifter and a scoop and use wet micro-fiber to clean the glass. The tank gets cleaned regularly so no no chemicals are involved.

yeah I am not wanting to do the egg shell thing I just was curious about it.

Status of him, Yesterday he was lathargic, eyes closed not active at all. Didnt eat, drink and wasnt interested in it all. Today however he eat like a pig again. chased crickets, eat superworms, eat veggies, is moving around in the tank....

I dont get it. its like every other day he acts ok. Eyes are open today. He acts like he wants interaction. In other words acts normal :?:

and his beard isnt black today.. it was however yesterday but only at times...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
