8 Months and Digging

Hello, my bearded dragon, Herbie, has just recently picked up a new hobby of digging in her viv. Herb is only 8 months old now and I am pretty certain she is a female. She has never exhibited this behavior before. I have done a lot of reading on the digging habit and have found that it is usually when a female is gravid and trying to create a lay spot, even if they happen to be unfertile eggs. I am concerned about this because she is so young... can she really be producing infertile eggs already? I felt her stomach while her muscles were relaxed and I have not felt anything. She hasn't really changed shape or size either. Also, she has never had any contact with any other beardies except when I bought her at Petsmart when she was a few weeks old. She is digging ravenously today and seems to mostly want to occupy herself with it, occasionally I'll find her just relaxing but it doesn't last long and she goes back to digging. I haven't introduced any sand to her yet, currently she is on newspaper and is just shredding it to pieces under her logs and tree. I also read that it could be the temps, however, I haven't changed them at all, it has gotten hotter and more humid in our area, not much though, and she was digging first thing this morning, before her viv even heated up. I am planning on going out and getting a sand box today just for her to have. Any thoughts on her behavior would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure she has what she needs. Thanks!

It's possible that she may be carrying infertile eggs. Mine had her first infertile clutch at 9 months old. I would get her a lay box just to be sure.

Do all females do this? Mine is about 8 months and has never showed signs... no digging or anything.

How much water should I be giving my bearded dragon? He will only drink from a dropper when I drop on his nose and I’m not sure if I should give it to him until he won’t drink anymore? Or should I stop after he’s had a certain amount?
