Right now i'm using a zoo med basking spot light 150 watts and Dawnzi has to be within two inches of it to get the 105-108 degee temp. too frustrating to prop things up to get him that high so i'm gonna have to experiment with halogen flood lights. been researching online but was reading that spot flood can burn since it's heat is localized in one area. i want to bring the basking spot to 6 inches or so under the light not an inch or two underneath it as it is now. it's ridiculous that the 150 watt bulb doesn't produce enough heat to go down any further. i saw this light at Target last night but i'm guessing it might be too much wattage. not sure though. i was reading some people use a 50 watt or a 75 watt depending on their viv size and basking spot. i have a 40 gallon breeder. do i have to use the indoor type? i also saw a special heat flood at Ace but that might not be appropriate. do i just have to buy a couple floods and see which works the best? oh and does the lumens have to be over 1000 like this one below for the right amount of light?
