72" STACKED Corner Condo

I redesigned my original plan. The new design persuaded my fiance into letting me stick to the corner enclosure idea.

-sliding access doors (.25" tempered of course)
-grid style top leading to the spacer/canopy which will have pc case style fans for circulation (still working that detail out)
-flush mounted lighting
-mosiac slate tile floor
-faux rock backgrounds w/ledges and basking shelf
-molded sandbox / water dish (another faux project)

Hey Eric,

That is so awesome! It will look like a really nice piece of furniture when you are done. I am going to have my husband come on and see if we can add something like this to our house! He has built a 2 tier oak cage with storage at the bottom, and a 4 tier melamine cage. But this is unique. I love it. When will you start building? Make sure you take pictures as you go and post on here.

As for venting on our oak cage he left the top open and just put in wire screen on each level with a 4 inch space between each level that is behind a door. All of our light switches are there too. As for the melamine he put screens in the back and those circular vents on the sides. It is sort of a toss up on which stays hotter. I have Uromastyx in the oak so it has to be hot, hotter then for beardies. The screen works well to let out the heat, and humidity. You have to remember that the wood soaks up the heat. You will have a hotter basking spot with wood, where as you will have a hotter amibient temp with melamine because the white reflects the light instead of absorbing it.

Hit the hardwood shop today. Narrowed wood choice down to either Cherry or Walnut face, with the rest being Maple. Unfortunately, I can't get a discount on either and they run $3.25-4.00 BF. OUCH! I hate having expensive taste.

How is the progress coming? Did you decide what you are making it out of yet? I'm really interested to see how this looks when its completed...should be awesome! I'm thinking of doing something similar now...never thought of a corner unit before but this looks great!

solid cherry face and cherry veneer in the hidden areas. construction starts on Monday I hope.

No progress so far as I'm out of town. I did come up with a name for one of my new dragons though (won't get him 'til after April due to cold weather). Fiance refuses to name hers 'til she meets her and learns her personality. :roll: I'm trying to talk her into naming it Arya. I'm an Inheritance fan if you can't tell.
