55gal long too small?

So I went to my LPS where I usually get my fish to look at the reptiles (omg there was some cute babies) and I was discussing my set up with the owner and he said that the used 55 I got (only 25$ it was a steal) might be too narrow in the future since its only 12 3/4" wide.

So now I'm a bit concerned, how much of a difference will this make in the future and how might it effect my future beardie's health if I kept it in that size enclosure? Could I use the vertical height of the tank counter measure it or would I have to eventually just change tanks once it got older?

I don't like 55 gallons for beardies, because the interior depth is only 12" and that barely gives an adult room to turn around. I think you need at least an 18" deep enclosure, and 2 feet is best.

The width of the 55 may be a problem in the future as your dragon grows. A minimum of 18 inches in depth (which would work out to a 75g tank) will ensure that your dragon can turn around comfortably. For dragons floor space is more important than vertical height.
