4yr old BD got noob as new owner

hi all.

thought i would say hi as i am the pround owner of a 4yr old male BD.

i got him last week with half a set up . but now he has a good set up .
i've had Chinese water dragons few yrs ago , but this is my 1st bearded dragon.

i know ive only had him a week and he is probably still settling in . but he is a lazy sod .

few questions i have, and hopefully you good ppl can help-
do they eat alot of veg and fruit ? as mine doesnt seem to eat it. ( he goes crazy for live food).
is it normal to go a day or two without pooping ?. mine didnt go for a few days ,so i gave him a bath and a little massage ,and the train left the station .

Was he ever introduced to veggies or fruits?? If not on a regular basis it may take a while of giving him some in a dish each day until he takes to it.. try beautifuldragons.com

There's a color coded list of things to try as staples and things to feed occasionally (and items to stay away from)... as a general rule under one year or still growing is 80% live/20% veggies... any ages above that they usually switch to the opposite stated... good that you bathed him to get things moving, as long as he has a good soak every other day to every third he should remain regular... if urates or poops look harder than normal amp up the soaks.. congrats on your new pet (and yes they can be lazy, but often times crazy too)..

yes . from what his old owners said . he eats all sorts of veg and fruit .

but since i have had him, i havent seen him eat any. ( we have given him alot of different stuff. got a list from website.)
i did wrap a mealworm in a kale leaf and he liked it . ( only happened as the worm was on the leaf ).

has anyone had any problems with BD and cats ?. only ask as i have a few cats . they just sit next to the tank for hours looking at him . and sometimes Bob(BD name) comes up to the glass and dance's infront of them .
i have shown Bob to the cats , and it didnt bother him at all . the cats jumped but bob didnt .

Just keep trying, if you've only had him for a week or so it may be that he's simply settling in still... just watch him with the cats if they're introduced.. I don't have cats, but I do have a 90 pound shepherd that can and does come face to face with no issues but they've also known each other for a long while.. if anything the beardie will be quick to startle and may puff out, hiss or black beard if the cats make him nervous and cats are very temperamental and unpredictable so watch them more than anything.. you never know and accidents happen fast..

he is still not eating his veg and fruit . eating mealworms and crickets ok. just not the greens.

have tryed all sorts of veg and fruits ,and nothing . got him a fig,pea shoots, grapefruit today and he just licked them and ignored them .

Have you tried squash grated into his greens, maybe collards or chard?? If mine doesn't have any squash she won't go near it at all.. she prefers the yellow peel from the squash not the innards only the bright yellow peel.. as far as fruit she likes none.. Have you put his worms into the dish of salad when it's time to feed, May trick him into accidentally getting a bite of the greens with the worm itself and will realize he can eat that when he needs a snack..
