Hey everyone! This is my third beardie and they've all been different. I got Stewie at the end of December. When I got him home he ate like a dragon! He ate crickets, mealworms(small) and he loved his salad. Now he's just stopped eating all together. I got him to eat one worm the other day. I'm soaking him everyday to avoid dehydration, and feeding him the beardie "formula" (1-2X per day)that was on this website. He only licks a little of the babyfood mixture. I've seen him try to get crickets and worms, he tries a couple of times and misses then quits. He's in a 30 breeder but I put him in a 20 to eat. His temps are basking 109 and cool 85 (taken with a digital therm). If anyone has any info. or ideas it would be greatly appreciated. He's so skinny! Please help!

Thanks,

Karen

take him to the vet to have a fecal done. It will show for any parasites and the vet will prescribe the correct meds if needed. That is really what it sounds like except for missing his food. What kind of UVB do you use? Tube or coil? How old is it?

Hey, the UVB is a tube and it's brand new. I tried giving Stewie a worm today and he did the same thing. He went for it 2X then quit. It's almost like he has no depth perception, either that or he might not even want the worm. I'll have to try to find a herp vet. The one all of the pet stores use is 1 1/2 hrs away.
Thanks!

I noticed you said he's really skinny. Are you bathing him regularly? I would take him to the vet and/or force feed him if he's not getting anything in his stomach.

Good Luck :)

I want to thank everyone who read and/or replied. I found a vet nearby that sees exotics. I took a fecal sample and Stewie does have hookworms! He had his 3rd dose of Pancur today and is taking liquids out of a syringe. He's definitely looking more alert and moving around more. I'm thankful I didn't wait because he wouldn't have made it much longer. Someone asked if he gets soaked often. Yes, I try to soak him for 15 min. every other day. The vet said to continue with the babyfood until he starts eating his greens and crickets again. Poor litte fellow!

Thanks again,

Karen

Good, it seems Stewie is on the road to recovery!
I've been curious...how much did it cost you to get the fecal done, and how much for the medicine? I have heard the fecal and medicine are actually very cheap...less then $30 combined.
I also heard that a pro-biotic is good to give to bearded dragons when they are taking oral antibiotics...it helps replenish the beneficial bacteria that is being killed off by the antibiotic...it works like how yogurt works for humans. I can't remember the name, gosh darn it! From what I remember though, it was pretty cheap and is quite tasty for beardies. :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
