4 Days Without Pooping

Gork has gone 4 days now without going poo. The last time he did was late Sunday night. It does not seem to be effecting him negatively; he isn't displaying discomfort, still eats and is just as mobile as always. I've given him a warm bath two days in a row now, but still nothing. I'm worried about him but I don't know what to do. Does anybody have any advice?

Note: He seemed to have a brief brumation on Tuesday, but I can't be sure. Could that have caused his system to slow down?

i know how you feel right now one of my bearded dragons hacve not pooped in over a week and i was bathing him everyday but then someone mentioned to me that you may need to massage his tummy while he is in the bath to help him along with the bowel movements. i did that and within 10 mintues of doing that it was the biggest poop i have ever seen. i also used some squash baby food to aid him in this, most of the time if you put it onto the snout with a needleless syringe they will just lick it off. and they will eat just as much as they want. you can go to any local drugstore and ask if they have any eyedroppers and most of the time they will just give you a free one. but brumation does slow the body down but before he does do this we need to try and get this food out of him first because in brumation they dont want heat so without heat he will not be able to digest his food and it could be a big problem down the road. also make sure he is getting lots of fluids too. although im sure you are already doing a great job with giving him baths daily. Let us know how he is doing :)

I am pleased to announce that this morning, about 10-15 minutes ago Gork defecated finally :D

Thank you very much for your advice :) I focused on massaging his stomach while in the bath and shortly afterward he went.

It was very runny however, with one well formed stool sitting in the middle of it. Is this a result of the constipation? After getting him a ceramic heater his stools became much healthier looking, but he only had two before this little constipation issue.

no problem thats what this site is here for. i am glad your beardie finally went poop i was extremely excited when mine did too. and it may not have been a direct result of constipation because usually a really big mass will come out but as long as he pooped then that is all his troubles right there.

my beardie hasn't pooped for about a week, i'm keeping him hydrated, he's been eating a little but not alot, his mobility is fine he does not appear to be having any problems. I'm abit anxious as i've read to give my beardie a bath last time i did that he got really annoyed started hissing and he went black. Any other ideas that don't involve water? thank you

Hi, Im having so much trouble with my beardie going for a poo. She hasnt had one for about 6 weeks now so i took her to the vet on monday evening, they kept her for 4 days to treat her and she finally went. When i picked her up on thursday they said she will go for quite a few poos over the weekend but she hasnt done anything. I have bathed her every day and she is struggling to go again now. Is there any sort of laxative i can buy her as the vet bills are ridiculous now and think there is more to the issue than her just being constipated. Does anybody have any advice and she is really struggling to go again and she looks like she is in pain!!
Thanks for your help

well almost the best thing that you can do for your bearded dragon is bathe him twice a day (no matter how much he hates it) and massage his/her belly. you can also try squash baby food or pumpkin baby food and most of the time they will just lick it off if it on the tip of his nose. i am not sure about a beardie laxative though if there was one i would ask a reptile vet before giving it to them. but the best way is to simply bathe them and massage their bellies. and if the vet said that your beardie will poop over the weekend and it has not i would just call the vet and ask them why its not. since they just had your beardie in there they will probably not mind talking things over with you. Did the vet say what they did to make your beardie go to the bathroom? and the other way without using the water situation would be too stay away from any meal worms or any food that you are feeding them that have a hard exo skeleton as that tends to make things worse.also what kind of substrate do you have for both of your bearded dragons?

How long should I bathe her for because I'm doing it for about 15 minutes at the moment. For the last 6 weeks she hasn't had anything in her tank because we thought she was eating the bark so we took it all out! I will call the vet today and see what they say because she is worrying me now! The vet said he was really dehydrated so they can her liquid and some sort of tablet that helped her go to the toilet. ill call the vet and then post what they say

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
