i have 2 juvis and 1 sub adult. do you think i would be able to keep 3000 crickets alive for a month?
its easier just to buy 3000 a month instead of having to buy them several times in a month.
im pretty good at keeping crickets alive, however sometimes they just die because they feel like it, ya know?

anyone who has experience with this, lemme know.

We get a shipment of 2000 every 2 weeks, so at any time we could have 3000+ crickets in our bins (Depends on how the kids are eating at any given week). All we do is put them in our rubbermaid bins (1000 in each bin) with the eggcrate (broken up smaller, but not demolished), some potatoes, greens and other veggies. We change out the veggies every 3 days. We haven't had a problem with die off or anything like that. We just clean the buckets out every week. It's been working for us for about 3 years now.

One of the big things to keep in mind is the age of the crickets. They only live for about 8 weeks total, so if you buy them as adults, they usually won't live much longer than 2 weeks or so, if you got fresh adults. If they are already old adults when you get them, then they could die the next day. You have to be very diligent about keeping their bins cleaned out, especially the dead cricket bodies which decay and produce gases that will kill off the live ones in mass. They also need plenty of space, mainly in the form of vertical surface area. They should not have to crawl over each other to get around. This leads to cannibalism and more deaths from dead carcasses decaying. A good high protein food such as dry dog food or something similar helps to cut down on the cannibalism as well.

Aside from that, if you are gonna order that many at a time, think about ordering some of them as smaller sizes. They grow quite quickly. If you know you only need 500 adult crickets this week, then order 500 adults, and 500 1/2" crickets which should be close to being adult by the time you feed the 500 adults off. Hope that helps some.

it does help, cause i completly forgot to put in to concideration that they are defintely going to grow...
hhha ive been a little brain dead today. :|
Well my beardies arnt big enough for adult crickets yet.. they are still on 3/8 size.
but i think i will just order 1500 every 2 weeks.
i mean it would save me money to just buy 3000 for a month, but i dont want them getting too big.

so thanks :D
i will order 1500 every 2 weeks.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
