how long would 300 small dubia last me for my baby beardie on 'average'? the reason I ask is because I'm gonna order some phoenix worms and superworms, but don't want to order until I have an idea of when I'll actually need them. any and all input is greatly appreciated

Kind of depends on the dragon and how "baby" they really are.

When we first got Q, she was a real "baby" (could fit onto one of my fingers).
At that size she was eating only about 4-5 small dubias before she'd be full.
She did that 3x a day -- so about 15 a day.

As she got a bit bigger, she'd go up to 9 or 10 per feeding -- 30 or so a day.

Then she got big enough to go up to a larger dubia and her quantity per
day fell back into the about 18-20 range. And so on.

Right now she's eating about 10-12 inch-long nymphs 2x a day or about 20-25 a day.

So, with Q as an example, we averaged around 20 a day or so -- so 300 would last 2 weeks.

thanks for the reply. I haven't gotten my baby yet, was supposed to be here today but the breeder said that something came up and he couldn't ship, so he's shipping today and I'll have him tomorrow. He'll be almost 8 weeks old when I get him and he does look pretty small from the pics that he sent me:

he's also sending me 300 small dubia, which is why I asked how long they'll last

Well it also depends how much your beardie likes dubias. Harley is about 9 1/2 weeks old and depending she eats anywhere from 15-20 3/8 inch dubias a day plus a few pieces of greens and reptiworms. This varies, like this morning, she only ate 3 pieces of greens and 4 dubias for breakfast. But on average, i'd say about 20 a day is a good number for an 8 week old. Also I don't know about the idea of superworms for a baby beardie. If they are like mealworms, then they are gonna have a hard chitin which can impact your baby. I'd stick with dubias, crickets, phoenix/repti/calci worms(all the same thing) or maybe some small silkworms.

Hi yeah suppers should not be given to babies. They can cause impaction and your beardie has a kink in their system. You should wait till he is at least 16 inches. He's a cutie.

Big supers for big dragons. Little supers for little dragons. Mealworms cause impaction, not supers of the appropriate size.

Direct quote from the beardeddragon company (Last part highlighted by me):
Extra Small Superworms are a great way to add variety to your juvie bearded dragons diet. The extra small sizes range from 1/2" to about 1" in length and are super skinny, only 1mm or 2mm in width. Extra Small superworms can be fed to juvenile dragons when done so in moderation, starting with only 3 or 4 per day for the first two weeks, increasing gradually if well tolerated. Over feeding superworms may cause a dragon to throw up if they are not used to them and pig out, if this happens, wait 2 or 3 days before feeding any more supers, then try again. For small juvies from 2 to 4 months, superworms for a staple is not recommended, it is better to limit their intake and offer as a variety feeder so that their nutritional needs are better met .
Highlighted section referring to proper supplementation as a requirement, as super worms are high in phosphorus.

- Super Worms of the appropriate size, with a variety of other feeders, with proper supplementation are not a threat.

-Now, let's talk Dubia to respect the OP's original question :D

Might be ok but I personally wouldn't chance it. That's just me. I use dubias and reptiworms as staple. Used to feed crickets but I hate those things plus I've read from numerous places that they can carry pinworms. Been thinking of trying some silkworms and butterworms for treats.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
