I just got about a 3 week old beardie yesterday from PETCO, i already have to full grown beardies but i have never actually raised one, i bought tiny cricikets for him and cut up some lettuce really tiny and he doesnt seem interested and seems scared of the crickets. What do i do? i dont want him to starve. Maybe its because he is in a new place?

If it is t he first day u got him, it may be from relocation stress. In a week, if he is still not eating u may wanna try getting a different feeder. I myself am having feeding problems with my beardie. I think because petsmart/petco are careless they leave the crickets in all day! So they start to nibble on the beardies. So if u buy a beardie from their like i did as well, they may be scared of crickets in general. Try calciworms, from petco until u can order in bulk from reptiworms.com or phoenixworms.com etc. Good luck keep us updated.

Relocation stress can be an issue with him not eating. How long have you had him, keep him with dried food too, don't want crickets in his tank while he is asleep. Watch and make sure he is pooping once a day. He should come around.

good luck with your beardie, hope he /she eats soon, you metioned lettuce, not a good veggie for your beardie, mustard, turnip, collard greens, cactus pads, kale. bok choy, romaine and many others you can read about on this forum are much better.

I sujest pin head crikects and calicum worms/phionex worms/reptiworms. Crickets are an easy feed cheap but smelly, and the worms will help with calicum not all babys are veggie eatters at first

Yes, he pooped today and i noticed that was a good sign. I bought these little juvenille beardie pellets. and it says to mix them with a tiny bit of water so its kinda mushy. I think he will eat that when he thinks its time, i also have crickets but when i put a couple in yesterday he seemed scared and i didnt wanna keep them in over night so i just took them out. and i got him yesterday. (friday)

Which sounds about right because he was scared of the crickets. and they are careless. the lady that got me by beardie on friday was grabbing a Green Anole for an older gentlemen and when she was putting it in the plastic container she squeezed his head in it and like shoved it in the container, and i am thinking are you kidding me? like.. what is a 2 inch lizard gonna possibly do to you that you have to be so agressive.

Ya when i got shadow. The lady took him out put him in between her thumb and middle finger then used the hand he was in to close the enclosure! Her free hand wasnt even used. He was like trying to hide the entire time! Their crazy over there.

i suggest to ruffle the bag with crickets in it so he sees them in the bag. then drop in one cricket at a time. if theirs a lot hes going to get stressed and feel as if there all out to get him lol. but yea also feeding one at a time makes it easy to keep track of how many he ate and also makes it focus on one target and catch it rather than a cricket swarm that half is going to hide somewere and come out at night and bite the beardie. i guess thats all of my suggestions.

green leaf lettuce isnt really good for them at all--get the other ones mentioned: Collards, mustard or dandelion greens etc

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
