3 month old jumpy

I got my bearded dragon 2 months ago and is very jumpy. I try to handle I'm 15-30 minutes a day, and after 3-5 minutes of holding he starts jump off my hands onto the floor,table and my shoulder which i don't want him to be on since he is still small (10 inches). He also gets startled easily when i try to pet him inside his tank and move and maintain the stuff around him. Is he just jumpy and restless because he is young?

Yeah a lot of that has to do with age. Part if it is that you're so much bigger and the size difference can be scary to some of them for a while. When he is jumping from your hands when you have him out, that's likely curiosity. They are especially curious when they are young and he's probably just trying to run around and explore. If you can provide a safe place for him to do this, I encourage it.

Thanks for the info. I've been letting him run around my room floor. There are some spots that he can get out of my reach, so I am going to try and "lizard proof" everything so he can do this safely.
