So im thinking of building a 3 level cage for my dragons, so i can have my females on my level and each male on its on level. Up till now all ive built are the single melamine cages which are fine but heavey. Im just wondering if any one has any ideas, pics, or plans for me so I can figure out how to best go about this. Also, other than melamine what other woods are good to use for cages? Thanks in advance for any help.

Good luck on this Mansion. Plywood is heavy, particle board is heavy, and MDF is heavy. Lightest would be those cages made of that lightweight plastic. But those are a bit more pricey. You could always get thinner wood that would help.

you didnt give a size you are trying to build but if you did 20, or even 50 gallon tanks out of plexi glass it would be light. you could probably do three 50 gallons for under $100 in plexi glass and caulk the edges together like a regular glass enclosure. i know when i made my tank out of an old table i just figured out my measurements and bought the biggest piece of plexi at lowes and they cut it for me free

i believe that plexi glass is more expensive that regular glass, and depending on the thickness of the plexi glass it would scratch rather quickly with the nails of the dragons, but i just finished my 3 level enclosure and used mdf wood it was not that bad to do it came out pretty good for the first time builder. here is a picture so that you can get an idea of what i just finished.

I didn't even build mine, I just used an old college book shelf/dresser and just framed it off with plexi glass.

All I needed to purchase were 1/4" vinyl rails, and 1- 4'x6' sheet of plexi glass and 1- multipurpose caulking. The 1/4" plexi glass sheet was the most expensive at $72 a sheet... I was a very easy 2 hour project with the right tools, and wiring was very easy...

I forgot to mention, each cage/shelf is equivalent to a 40 gallon breeder, and I only use these for my juveniles/sub-adults before moving them to a 4x2x2... Keeping a full grown adult in one of these cages is a little cramped...

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
