2 questions about greens

1-- Can you feed to many greens? My beardie has had water stool since I got him. I removed the greens for a day, and the next day, stool was normal. Suggestions???

2-- Does anyone grow green food hydroponically for their dragons?

It's possible the mixture of greens was causing excess hydration. You may just need to play around with the combination that you're offering. If you offer a good balance they'll stop when they've had enough. What kind of greens are you offering? I like to use Collard, Turnip, Mustard, and Dandelion greens as staples and then add some squashes or cut up green beans etc. Just kind of rotate through depending on what's fresh at the store.

I haven't heard of anyone growing greens hydroponically but I'm sure it's doable. Plenty of folks keep at least part of the veges for their diet growing in a garden in or around the house. As long as you stay away from chemicals/pesticides it should be no problem.

Just like humans and other critters dragons can get digestive upset from some foods. It may be one of the greens or some thing you are offering.

I'm sure you could grow greens in hydro easy. A deep water culture is relatively easy to setup. We've only grown them in soil they sprout pretty fast then go into the enclosure. They need quite a bit of light to thrive.

Gryffin was eating collard greens, turnip greens and VERY occasionally kale. I am trying to get dandelion greens but none yet. He never seems full on any food. I'm getting worried. He came to me from a great breeder and I know he was parasite free. Could he have already gotten a parasite from something at my house? I do feed what I think is a good dubia and occasionally solider fly larve, again from a reputable source. I am going. CRAZY keeping the cage clean and the dragon too. I don't bath him unless I have to, so I don't add extra moisture. I am going nuts. .....HELP please!!!!

If he continues to have runny stool I would take him and the freshest sample possible to your vet for a check up. It's possible that he has parasites, but if not you'll want to figure out why he has the runs.

This looks like a great vertical garden rig. I have done hydroponics for several years, sometimes with success and sometimes not.
I'll keep you posted if I have some luck!

I'm going to try and find a new vet. The one I originally took Gryffin to had great credentials, until he started to talk. He suggested vitamins for his orange coloring problem! ( he's a hypo orange... )
