I have two females housed together and it seems like they are trying to breed with each other and I am 98% sure the female trying to play the role of the male is female.... No humps near base of tail... Is this somewhat normal to happen?

Yes, it is very normal because it is a display of dominance. Females will even try to mount males, which is more likely to end up in a fight. The problem with females is that they try to fake breed the other females and fool them into cycling their eggs, so your probability for laying infertile eggs is almost a for sure thing. While I house all my females together, when one displays this kind of dominant behavior, I either breed her to a male or separate her from the group until she gets over it.

RioReptiles thats hillarious "until she gets over it" I have one female that cannot be housed with others. She always does that head bobbing and mounting to anyone even out of season. She will also pick at other beardies beards.

I never heard of not being able to house females together. All my females get depressed when I separate them and won't eat. I have three girls in a very large cage. I think the thing of it is to have more than one basking spot and plenty of places for them to climb on. My cage is 4 ft long 3 ft wide and 2 ft tall. They have so much space in there they usually don'tbother each other. I do have one dominant female that does the mounting in the cage with the others. She is the largest and does do this from time to time but never actually mounts them mounts them...

I read somewhere that when the females are cycling and there isn't a male around that they start to get confused and start mounting each other because it feels natural to them. I can't remember where I read it. It may have been a magazine or online article...

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
