my 11 mth old beardie got pregant by pure mistake i was told when we rescued the male that he was a female, and now i know he's not.she laid a clutch about 17 days ago and now looks like she is about to lay again is there anything i need to look out for as i really don't want to lose her.she is very alert and been eating like a pig.she is quiet a meaty dragon usally.and i was suprised she laid the first lot so easily and was very well straight after, but i am worried the second time might take to much out of her,(her first lot she laid 16 eggs).

Keep feeding her her greens and lots of insects. Dust with vitamins and calcium on every feeding. Make sire she gets soaked often and please separate them. She is way to young to be breeding. She can lay 3 to 4 clutches from 1 breeding.

thank you.i have seperated them as soon as i found out that she was pregant the first time, and she has been eating greens which she loves (loads of)and locus are her favouriate.i just wanted to know if there was any signs i should look out for of her getting distressed she seems very alert.and i did phone a vet and he said to leave her alone and not handle her until she has laid in case she gets upset.she is also sheading so instead of bathing her i have put a big water bowl in so she can sit in it.thanks again.please let me know if there is anything else i can do for her.

Seems like your doing it. You will know when she is ready to lay again when she gets rammy and then starts to dig. When she starts digging get her into the laybox and instinct will do the rest. Are you incubating your eggs? I handle my girls everyday right up to them digging. Just be careful. The water bowl is a good back up plan but still keep up the soaks. Laying eggs really depleats a dragon and with her being so young its doubly so. You are useing calcium and vitamin supplements?

Hi. Wanted to add that unless you saw something happen between the 2 beardies to know that they did mate, then she could just be laying infertile eggs. I dont know anything about the eggs or how to take care of them or anything, just thought I would mention they could be infertile.

just keep her calcium and vit supplements up keep her well hydrated and just keep an eye out for the next time she starts to dig.

Oh by the way. What kind of incubator are you using (u are using a incubator right just making sure you know not to leave the eggs in with her)

Hi! You seem to be doing everything right & have certainly got some good advice, but still sound concerned. Whereas it is young it happens, nature'll kick in & she'll do her thing. If she did well with the first lot, have faith in her to do the right thing 2nd time around. Don't panic if she goes off her food - some of mine were just too big at the end to eat, really uncomfortable, so I kept the water bowl full & they instinctively had big long soaks. Then have the food ready once she's laid! Most say about the 21-28 days betw. egg laying. If your keeping her supplements up she should have no adverse effects - they seem to only lay as many as their body size allows, so yours had only 16, whereas my 2 1/2 yr olds can get up to 35 a go. I also handle mine up to the day, there bodies are designed to protect the eggs. Good luck hey! :D - Kathy

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
