1000 Phoenix Worms

My order of Phoenix worms will arrive today....Good timing because it will be 60 degrees on Cape Cod today. My question is about introducing them. Silver has been eating about 25-30 md crickets a day in 2 sittings. Very little collards. Should I feed some crickets and some worms or just the worms? I am hoping to lay the worms on top of the collards so he will get some salad mixed in. If these go over as well as I hope will get a snack mix of other worms from Mullberry Farms.

Phoenix worms wriggle non-stop, as in they never stop wrigging and they can travel blindly in a straight line. You may have some escaped worms if you lay them on the salad. I have found Phoenix worms can get out of a smooth-sided dish if the dish is wet. The wet seems to give them traction!

I would feed the crickets and the phoenix worms, as variety in their diets is really good for them.

Total disappointment....My order never crossed the bridge today. Even though USPS website gave delivery confirmation as today, the package is spending the night in Wareham near Plymouth. The local post office is on the look out and I should pick it up there tomorrow. Hope the worms can spend one more night in the box. Not the vendor's fault at all. Being halfway out on the Cape sometimes means we get delayed delivery. Got another batch of crickets....will mix the worms in gradually.

We had an order of Reptis that sat outside in our mailbox overnight when it was in the mid-low 30's. They were just fine the next morning when we remembered them! :shock: :lol: I think the dirt substance they are packed must have some insulating properties!

Worms arrived no worse for their extra travel day. Well packaged and ALL alive. I think now that I see them that I should have gone with the large insstead of medium but we'll see tonight when I get home. Any input on how quicky they will grow?

They will not really grow. They will shed a few times and get blacker and blacker until they morph into black soldier flies.

We buy a lot at a time and keep them in a wine fridge at 53 degrees. When you first get them, if they are cold, they will look a bit shorter, but when they warm up they will be a teensy bit larger and will wriggle more.

I am so glad they are all alive. I looked at your forecast and I wasn't worried about them.

Well Silver has eaten 15 or so of the worms today. Mixed them in with his greens and he ate about 5. then he gave me me the stink eye for crickets. I disable them and drop them in the food bowl one at a time. He ate about 7 then went to bask. After an hour or so I put him back by his food bowl with the greens and left the room. He ate all but 2 of the worms. I think I should have gotten the large worms. They would be more the size of the crickets he eats. All in all a success. He normally eats 25 to 30 of the crickets a day in 2 sittings so I will try to feed him more later.
