Thanks for the tip I don't feed them to him too often and not a lot of them. Freddy is doing good, just being really lazy. I don't like this whole brumation deal. I know it's normal but it doesn't feel like it to me haha. He wakes up everyday, doesn't do a whole lot but at night sometimes he glass dances on his basking side of the tank and jumps at his light... ?? I don't know why he does that haha. But one thing I'm unsure about is that I only give him a bath about every 4 days and that's the only time he goes poo, is that bad that he doesn't go poo that often?

Also, what temps should I be trying to reach in his tank? I have a 75w basking bulb for a 75g tank and it's only seeming to get to like 97 at the hottest. And I have a probe thermometer.

97 is air temp or basking spot temp??Im using 125w solar glo and basking spot temps goes from 95 to 104f air araund her basking spot is araund 93.2f midle part of terrarium is 86f to 82.4 cool end is 82.4 to 77f you have problem with heating and basking spot temps buy stronger basking bulb they sell 100w,125w,and160w lamps intense basking spot exoterra is cool basking buld .I hope I helped.

He's a handsome boy.

His temps should be 95-100 for digestion. I've found the best to be buying a flood light and a dimmer switch. It's worked really well for me thus far.

Hey all! Thanks for the helpful tips. But now I need more help. I'm so there Re a few things.
One, Freddy has been a very dark color lately, pretty much all winter. I think that he is mad at me cause when I first got him in the spring, I took him outside with me almost everyday and we would sit in the sun for hours and I think since I haven't don't that cause it's winter, he's mad at me. But I'm not sure, can anyone think of any other reason?
Two, I feel bad for him cause since he can't go outside, there isn't a whole lot for him to do. So I feel like he's bored being in his cage just sitting there everyday. Any thoughts?
Three, Freddy looks dehydrated to me. I read sunken eyes was a way to tell and I can't if his eyes are sunken or if this is how they look, I'm a very paranoid person. (Pics below) I used to give him water from a squirting bottle, I would just squirt water out gently and he's just lap it up til he was done. He hasn't done that in a very long time. So yesterday I gently forced him to drink water. He gets baths weekly as well.
Four, his poo is looking somewhat normal but since his eating has decreased a lot in the past few months he barely has any poo, it used to be as much as my chihuahua pooed and now it's very little. His urate alone used to be as big as his entire poo now. I'm afraid he's loosing weight.
And lastly, I'm being told to use a tube uvb bulb for him but I don't know exactly what tube means. Can someone tell me exactly what bulb I'd need for a 75g tank?

1. Dark coloration could also mean that he's cold.
2. You could make a play pen or beardie proof a room so he can come out and explore. That's what I did and my guys and girls love it. You could also add things to it (something I need to do) so they can climb and what what not.
3. He doesn't look dehydrated to me at all. Beardies don't typically drink water on their own. A 20 min bath 3 times a week is all he needs as beardies absorb water through their vents which is how they stay hydrated.
4. I wouldn't worry too much about the poo. Once he starts eating more he'll be good to go. Plus, as beardies get older, they don't poop as often.
5. This is the UVB everyone recommends: http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Repti...&qid=1393332275&sr=1-3&keywords=reptisun+10.0 It says to replace once a year, but you should do it every six months to play it safe.

I definitely need to get him a better source of heat. I think he might be cold but he also doesn't stay in the basking side of his tank too much so that makes me question if he's cold.
A play room sounds great, unfortunately I don't have much room to do that.
I'm glad he doesn't look dehydrated. I'm a super paranoid mom to him haha. I just feel like every little thing I notice might not be right so I start freaking out haha.
And I will get him the right bulb thank you!

Can you tell me what sort of things cause mouth rot and what I can do to prevent it and what to look for as far as signs go of possible mouth rot? Thank you

I just checked his mouth (he was not happy) and it doesn't have anything that looks weird. Just his tongue and stuff is a very pale color so I don't know if it's supposed to be pinkish or??

I'm personally a fan of flood lights and a dimmer switch from Home Depot as a heat source. The bulbs there last way longer than the pet store ones.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about mouth rot. I know once source is from feeding them baby food and not washing their mouth out afterwords. I'm sure that there are other ways. His mouth sounds good.

I understand the paranoid mama thing all too well. I was convinced Zy and Jace had tail rot for the longest time but nope, they're fine.

If you're worried about him being cold at night you could also use a ceramic heat emitter as needed. I live in Vermont and it is quite cold here so I need to use one at night!
