    Is my dragon semi-brumating?

Hey there everyone, I have two juvenile beardie ladies that are both around 7 months old now judging by their growth. I got them back in March and they've tripled in size and are now about 11 inches from nose to tail tip. I keep them in a home made set up about 60gallons in size roughly (turned...

    STRESS MARKS CONSTANT

Got a picture? Like Cooper said, the term can be misleading. I saw a dragon that had a beard that was so dark it looked purple, but that was just his normal color!!

How to deal with a climber/ jumper

Wow, that's a beautiful viv set up. It looks like a habitat you would find in a zoo! I love the idea of a dig box. I'm a newer beardie owner, and I'm aware of impaction and substrate with juveniles. But if he's over a year, I thought it was more than okay to have a substrate like that? It looks...

My Bearded Dragon Is Fighting His Reflection.

This, so much. My juveniles were fighting their reflections a lot, too. I ended up buying a decal that stuck to the inside of the glass to get rid of the reflection, but construction paper would be MUCH cheaper. He just thinks it's another beardie, and he's trying to defend his space!

    agressive, mean beardi

OH!!! Another user posted this in a different thread I just found. This method works great for all sorts of critters!!! I used to have a stallion that would charge me over the fence line. I would just sweet talk him and give him scratches under the chin and eventually it stopped. I like the...

    Cranky Juvenile During Shed

Thanks, I hadn't thought about Aloe vera. He's potato-caking in his water dish now (as flat as he can make himself lol!!), so I'll just leave him alone and see if that helps. It surprised me how much of a jerk he turned into so quickly! Poor guy.

    agressive, mean beardi

Hi McGuire, thank you for saving this stressed out beardie from his bully tormentor! It's a shame your friend wasn't able to gather the courage to stand up to his friend that did that to him, but hopefully with lots of time and patience you can remedy it! It will take a lot of time and...

    Cranky Juvenile During Shed

I know it's normal for beardies to turn into real brats during shed, but is there anything I can do to help alleviate some of his discomfort? My bigger juvenile has been a cranky @$$ for a couple days as he finishes his body shed. I gave him a bath two days ago and his shed started immediately...

Behaviour & Care During Juvenile Shedding - Questions

How is your beardie doing today? I'm a relatively new owner, too, and I got really alarmed the first time my beardies started to shed. It's normal for them to get REALLY lethargic before a shed and lose some appetite, but it shouldn't last more than a couple days. What are you feeding, and how...

can I spoil my Dragon by hand feeding?

What Rankins and Tater said! Only issue is if you ever need someone else to take care of it. I do the same thing though and mix hand feeding with hunting on their own. They love the stimulation and exercise from hunting, but we still get to bond with hand treats! :D Others may discourage it...

Beardie with Male Physical Characteristics Laying Eggs?

Off topic but if 98% of structural engineers told you a bridge was unsafe, would you drive across it? So then, if 98% of scientists say human driven climate change is a real, growing issue, do you believe them? Interesting thought. To my knowledge beardies can't switch sexes after development...

    Adopting Adult Dragons

How exciting for you!!!! It sounds like you'll be more than prepared to handle any health issues that might come with a rescue, considering your background and other animal husbandry experience. I'm glad you'll be able to help a dragon out! To answer a few of your other questions, remember...

    Crickets breaking me.

Boy, do I share that sympathy!!! I got two beardies as well for my first time, and grossly underestimated how many crickets they ate. Check out the DIY page for some really awesome self-set up breeding colonies other users have made. I'm setting up a Dubia roach colony myself as soon as my...

    Best place to buy crix

I use Fluker Farms currently, although I've only had three orders with them so far. About $18 for 1,000ct of 3/4" crickets, and so far they've all arrived healthy and alive. A dealer at a reptile show gave me the number for a place called Hardy Cricket Farm that is a teeny bit cheaper--...

Feed inside the viv or out?!

I'm glad Roddy posted this, 'cause that's what I was going to say! I read a similar comment he made on another thread, and realized that one of my little beardies wasn't hunting as voraciously when there were too many crickets in the feeder tub! Little guy didn't like all the activity and being...

Fed a medium-sized mouse to my dragon

Well, I'm glad it all worked out! I'm sorry people are squabbling on your thread. I'm a noobie to dragons, but I work with keepers at a local zoo and have an animal science degree. So here's what I know, from 10 years working with animals in human care: the 17g mouse was simply too big, and...

    Zoo Med PowerSun?

Thanks a ton, Tater! I have a heat lamp in addition, as I noticed the UVB alone wasn't warm enough. I think I'll use this one with a 20 tall so that I have enough height. Might have to hang the lamp from a peg...

ARE MEAL WORMS BAD FOR A JUVY?

Maybe he got tired of them? It's not unusual for me to ger tired on rich foods, too the point where thinking of it makes me sick. Maybe he was just tired of eating like a king! :D Don't feel bad. You recognized a problem, and fixed it! !

ARE MEAL WORMS BAD FOR A JUVY?

I'm another newbie that was given mixed advice on the subject. I have the benefit of having some badass herp colleagues to go to for advice, though, and one of them put it like this to me: Mealworms are treats; when used as a staple they can cause impaction in juveniles, depending on their...
