Hi all,
I noticed today that my beardie has some black colouring on one of his back feet. I've never seen this before, is it harmless or should I be worried?
He seems otherwise fine.
Thanks!

It may be a bit difficult to determine the sex of a young dragon, but there is a guide to doing so here- https://www.beardeddragon.org/articles/sexing/ . If...

Pictures would be very helpful, of him and of his setup.
Can you give us some details about his care?

I was looking at buying some silkworms, and I was wondering if there's a big difference between plain and zebra silkworms? Is one preferential to the other?
Solid flooring is better, especially for a 5-6 inch dragon (who is just a baby with a very small digestive tract, which is easily blocked).
There are lots of options. Newspaper/paper towel works well (especially for little ones who tend to have very frequent bowel movements) and is easy to take...
Was wondering if there's an actual temperature range which you can take beardies outside in? I normally just take him out when it feels warm to me, but we're coming up to summer and I don't want to accidentally overheat him.
Definitely get the 10.0 as soon as possible. You'll have to play around with wattages to get it right; do you have a thermometer to measure them with? You'll want either two with probes (one for the cool side and one for the basking spot) or an infrared temperature gun, so you can accurately...
Can you take a picture of this bulb? Infrared bulbs emit red light, which is disruptive to a dragon's sleep. If it really doesn't produce any light, then perhaps you actually have a ceramic heat emitter?
I can't give you specific suggestions for buying them in America, but but some general advice:
You want it at least 2x2x4 foot (some people use smaller ones but that's considered the minimum in Australia)
You should be able to get light fittings built in (if you're ordering one specific for...
How much does she normally eat? Are the roaches smaller than the size between her eyes?
Unfortunately, the stick on thermometers aren't very accurate, you'll need to buy either some outdoor thermometers with probes or an infrared temperature gun, so that you can accurately measure the...
Just a tiny correction, Ellen D. In Australia, we have Reptisuns, not Arcadias :D Just to be confusing, a few of us have had Arcadias imported from the UK, but you can't actually buy them here (that I know of, anyway)
I'll just clarify, kingofnobbys was referring to a 26 watt for the compact coil; the tube will be a different wattage, but is far preferable (needs to be a 10.0, preferably a t5 with reflector hood), and will be nice and strong for your baby.
What a cutie!
That's a good UV setup. Glad to hear that you have carpet and don't let the crickets get loose; you're doing pretty well!
Unfortunately dial/stick on thermometers are not accurate (can be off by 10° or more), you'll need to get either probe thermometers (one for the basking spot...
Please give us a full rundown of your setup:
What specific UV light do you have? I know you said reptisun, but wattage, is it a tube or coil, what wattage? Does it have a reflector dome or hood? How close Is he to it on his basking spot?
What are the temperatures on his basking spot? On the cool...
That doesn't sound good. The creases may be dehydration (they get water from food, so he won't be getting much if he's not eating much). You can get an eyedropper and try dripping a little on his snout, see if he licks it up.
Can you try and post a picture of him?
I would suggest not leaving...
I'd say he's not hungry because his temps are off and UV is weak, and consequently he's not growing. Hopefully, he'll perk up with some adjustments.
Oh and for vitamins, you should be able to find generic reptile vitamins at your pet store. These are okay (you can always post the specific brand...
