    Glass/Wall surfing

Apollo sheds in phases. A foot or two, then his head and tail, then his body. It takes him a month at least!

    Glass/Wall surfing

My guy gets real active and surfs sometimes when he's shedding. I think it's his way to help the shed come off. Make sure you're giving her baths regularly to help out. Shedding time is the only time mine does this at least. He's in my bedroom so I can agree the noise is exhausting!

    Hiding in shade. Brumating?

My temp gun is reading at 112 in the sun outside and 84 in the shaded areas of the outside cage but it's only 79 degrees outside today. I just checked it on the log he likes to bask on. Today I kept him in and I turned his basking light down (it's on a dimmer switch) and although I had to put...

Baby beardies don't want to be held.....

Hi there! I'm by no means as experienced as some on this forum, I can only tell you what I know from my experience w Apollo when he was a baby. He was very flighty as well so I didn't feel comfortable handling him much when he was so small. I personally waited until he was tired towards the time...

    Hiding in shade. Brumating?

Hey guys! Apollo is 15 months old and lately he's been hiding under the shade of his hammock all day if I let him. He eats a few super worms here and there but doesn't bask at all unless I put him there. I have an infrared temp gun and his basking spot is 100 degrees and cool side is 85. The...

    What's wrong w his foot?

I don't have kids myself but I have 2 nephews so I get it. Boys will be boys. I'm just glad he's ok and I dont have to stay awake all night worrying about him. I'll keep applying ointment for the next few weeks and hope for the best. I texted the pic to the breeder today and she said pretty much...

    What's wrong w his foot?

Thank you! I put neosporin on it. Will his scales ever go back to pretty yellow or is he going to be scarred for life?

    What's wrong w his foot?

Apollo just finished a shed and has been very active in his cage recently rubbing on things trying to get the skin off. I was giving him a bath today and noticed some discoloration on his foot. I'm obviously concerned. Can anyone clue me onto what it is and what I can do about it? If it helps...

Baby growth rates - help me collect data

Apollo: 8 weeks, 10 1/2" and 63 grams. He's shedding again and grumpy but I'm not complaining. He's growing into his new beautiful big boy skin. Currently eating his salad, Phoenix worms and crickets. I'm still very happy with his growth rate. Gonna be a big boy!

Baby growth rates - help me collect data

I'm back to post Apollo's (I didn't mention his name last week) growth over the past 7 days. He is currently 6 weeks old and 9 1/4" long. That's a whole inch and a 1/4" since last week! I'll get a scale so I can weigh him for my next post. He's going to be a monster though I believe. Should I be...

Baby growth rates - help me collect data

Hi all! I just wanted to chime in on my little guys size. I'll try to keep this updated as he grows. He was hatched 4th of July so he's right at 5 weeks and 8" long. From what I've been reading it appears he's longer than most his age?

A day of rest...no lights or food?

My thoughts exactly. I know it rains and there may not be sun out but they get natural UV in the wild vs our manufactured UV and even if there's days of rain I still feel like they're perfectly fine because of the natural UV. He gets 11 hours w no lights when his timer goes off. I feel like...

A day of rest...no lights or food?

I thought it sounded odd too. She explained it like it was a way for their bodies to rejuvenate and they were healthier this way but I hadn't read about anyone else really using this method. He's so young still, I don't want to do anything that's going to impede his growth.
