Do I need to disinfect poplar board?

Hello! Earlier this week I began building my first viv, which I used melamine for. I also purchased some Poplar board from Lowe's to make different level basking/lounging areas for Yoda and I wanted to know if it is necessary to bake this board before installing it. I know you have to use this...

    Slate Tile Questions

When putting tile in a viv, does the tile need to be sealed? I do not plan on grouting as I want to be able to take them in and out to clean them. Also, a non-tile related question... If I wanted to make plywood shelves for my viv, does the wood need to be sealed as well? What kind of curing...

    Salad & Changing Diet Advice

Great, thanks for the helpful info! By about what age should he be at the 80/20 ratio? Also, as he continues to transition to the 80/20 should he get to where he only eats bugs like 2-3 days per week?

    Salad & Changing Diet Advice

Okay, so Yoda has never been to keen on eating salad, ever since he was a baby. I was forced to, at the advice of a vet, feed him baby food for his green needs. As he has gotten bigger (he's about 13.5 inches now), I am now forcing the fresh greens issue. I know as they get older they are...

    Yoda the Jedi Master!

Now that I have figured out how to post pics, I figured I could write an introduction for my bear die. I got Yoda at the beginning of September when he was only about 3 inches in length. He's now at about 13 inches and full of spunk! I recently brought him to my classroom because I figured the...

    Why do images disappear??

How come I am not able to see pictures that have been posted? I have read posts that include pictures, but am not able to see them. I have also posted pictures that I can see and others have commented on, but when I go back to the post later, I can no longer see them? Weird...

Grey Legs, Taking Forever to Shed??

Here are some pics... the first two are from today and the last shows his usual color. I just finished giving him a bath and his color has brightened some. He was not grouchy when I took him out of his tank, but he was a little jumpy and he flattened his body some.

    Collard & Mustard Greens???

Thanks for all the feedback! I am not in the UK, I am in the United States. I guess at this point it would be better to ask what types of leafy greens are best to use as the base of the salad? I had read that spinach and kale were bad because it causes the calcium to bind to it and not be...

Grey Legs, Taking Forever to Shed??

Hello All, First of all, I want to say thank you to the community on this forum! People have been so great and informative on here. Now to my question... A couple of weeks ago I noticed that Yoda's legs were turning grey so of course I expected an oncoming shed. This past weekend he shed one...

    Collard & Mustard Greens???

Hello! Forgive my lack of veggie knowledge here, but can someone please explain what collard and mustard greens are? Is there a list of these types of veggies?? I know lettuce, spinach and kale are no-no's for salad so I am not totally sure what to feed. I have been using baby food because Yoda...

    Hiding beardie, PLEASE HELP!!

The hormones sound like that might be it. I put his rock back in and turned the opening to face the back of his tank. After being out for a while, he brightened up to his normal color and got on his rock and has been basking for quite a while. He seems to be back to his complete normal self, so...

    Hiding beardie, PLEASE HELP!!

Just an update... I removed his rock cave and he is on his hammock, but very dark in color. I don't think I have ever seen him this dark. When he saw my hand in front of the opening of his cave, he puffed his beard at me a little and opened his mouth to hiss. The entire time he was under the...

    Hiding beardie, PLEASE HELP!!

Okay, I had posted I think last week some time about my beardie hiding. I am so confused at this point. A few days ago, I did realize (after purchasing a laser temp gun) the temps in Yoda's tank were far too high, so I thought this might be the cause of him hiding. His basking spot was around...

    Proper Heating & Temps?? Help!!

Okay, I have a question about heat lamps/bulbs. I have heard and read MANY mixed things as far as lighting. Some people say that regular household bulbs provide good enough heat, whereas some say you have to get a bulb specifically for reptiles. I have a 20 gallon tank that I bought when I first...

HELP! Not sure about this behavior

I tried giving him a bath and it was like he was like he had been revived!! Totally "woke up". Well, he became more active once he came out of hiding but after the bath he had crazy energy. I had just given him a bath Sunday so I hadn't thought about him needing it again. I did leave his water...
