Bearded dragon custom fake rock wall (pic heavy)

So yeah, I'm to the point in my building that I'm hanging hot things and juggling furniture around. Basically, how does that styro-foam handle intense heat? I'll admit that daunted me.

    CHE switch from red heat

We went to PetSmart today for the CHEs. They had one 100 watt and one 150 watt so that's what I settled on. I also left with a dog. THAT came out of left field. smh

brumating dragons "Tis' the season" :)

Yes, brumation is weird! Stuart is officially up!!! I've missed him so. He still seems a little groggy but definately awake. How's everybody else fairing?

    CHE switch from red heat

Finally the enclosure is coming together! I'm wanting to switch from the red heat lamps to CHE's but I need some advice. We're looking at each space being about 45-50 gall sized. What wattage/sz CHE would be best? Looking on Petco.com they have a bulb style Zilla and the flat coil ZooMed. (or...

Weirdest thing your beardie has eaten?

I've been reading up on house geckos. You can get them as feeders (or a fabulous way to control pest infestations). They're about $40 for a dozen. I'd let them run around, I'd have to feed them of course, and perhaps the cat would have a very interesting several days, but it's just cool. And...

brumating dragons "Tis' the season" :)

Stuart's been doing the ole one eye peek for the last week or so. He moves to the corner, to his log and back. He still doesn't want held or bothered. :? Soon, soon.

Weirdest thing your beardie has eaten?

I have heard talk of a small time gambling ring that meets behind the couch, Tater. o.O

Weirdest thing your beardie has eaten?

All interesting info, premammalian. Glad to see the reptile/bird connection brought up. I'd also noticed how most odd things were distinguishably similar to natural foodstuffs. But I really came here to say that Stanley has taken to harassing couch pillows and fleece throw blankets. Both the...

    18 inches of love, people.

Presenting Stanley the Manly! He's had a few growth spurts and has made it to the 18 in. mark at a mere 8 months old!

Weirdest thing your beardie has eaten?

Stella attempted to take a bite (or two) from a cinder block. Stanley got hold of a faux christmas tree needle, and a nip of tissue. Like babies. Scuttling, reptilian, ornery babies.

Mulberry Farms, A Review to a Kill (get it?)

I'll check them out. I just ordered a bunch of red worms from Backwater Reptiles, no shipping charge. I'm really new to online ordering and boy do I feel it. If it didn't allow the dragons a decent diet variety (only mealworms and crickets in these parts) then I'd toss it in the shuck it bucket...

Mulberry Farms, A Review to a Kill (get it?)

A few weeks back I'd ordered 500 reptiworms and a few cups of mealworms. I ordered a heat pack and standard shipping. It took 6 days to get here in Central Ohio from Cali, there'd been some snow and plenty of frigid temps. The death count was huge. It was sort of depressing. Such a waste. It...

brumating dragons "Tis' the season" :)

I think Stuart dreams of foraging scraps of cheerio he finds on the floor during run free time. And bugs. And fresh fruit. I miss the look in his eye when he spots green beans from across the room.

has anyone ever ordered from this site???

I've just gotten into this whole online ordering of bugs. So far I've only used Mulberry Farms and they seem ok. Let me know if you use the red worms place. That is a great price! I just ordered 500 reptiworms for $20.

pine beetle larvae (weevil) safe to feed?

Ooh, never thought of that. Might be a good idea. Does that mean bugs don't metabolize pesticides?

brumating dragons "Tis' the season" :)

I had a fecal sample taken to Stuarts vet so if he had a parasite it wouldn't harm him as his metabolism slows. Also I gave him something to snuggle (fuzzy blanket) and a couple dark places in case he wants to sleep. I did lower his temps but continue to offer food/water every few days. He's...

brumating dragons "Tis' the season" :)

Mind. Blown. Those shrimp are gorgeous!!! I'm much too cheap to drop $50 on any animal tho. I'll stick with the little 23c feeder shrimpies from the petstore. Perhaps I should hint to the fam to get me shrimpies for my birthday. Huge LOTR fan here. Ok, gotta get off here and do something...

brumating dragons "Tis' the season" :)

I noticed Stanley acting a little "brummish" lately. He's the same age as Stella but nearly as big as Stuart. Stuart's 2yrs, Stanley/Stella 7mos. Stanley the Manly is still eating regularly, just less than usual and he's been going to bed pretty early each night. I wonder if he's trying... ...

brumating dragons "Tis' the season" :)

LOL Hoppy meals! Sounds like it to me! From what I read temp makes no matter to some dragons. Stuart slowed down a lot last year, eating and consciousness-wise. This year I took pains to keep him on a sort of schedule and somewhat control his brumation. He needed a vet visit and take some meds...
