Non-bred beardie digging and showing laying behavio

I've put a 1 foot by 2 foot container filled with about 6 inches of wet sand into her enclosure. Think that will work or do I need to get a big laying box separate from her main enclosure?

Non-bred beardie digging and showing laying behavio

My beardie is approximately 1 year old, give or take. I'm no expert but from looking at sexing guides online I think she's a female. For the past few days she's been absolutely frantic, running all over the enclosure, climbing and scratching at the glass, digging and shredding the paper...

New tile, now beardie hasn't eaten for 6 days. Help!

Thanks. I managed to get a little baby food squash with calcium powder into him. I'm not sure whether he actually liked it or was just licking to get it off of his face. I dripped it onto his nose and he'd lick it off as it dripped down. He wouldn't come to the syringe, though. And...

New tile, now beardie hasn't eaten for 6 days. Help!

My beardie is around 6 months old (give or take, the pet store wasn't sure of his age when I got him). I've had him for about 4 months and he's been healthy and eating well. I feed him dubia, collard, mustard, and turnip greens. He has UV, temperature, etc. all correct as recommended in the...

Actually, I just measured him again and he's now 11" long. Wow these guys grow fast!

    Finding a good vet!

You really need a vet that specializes in reptiles. I found ours by asking around at a local reptile expo. One of the local breeders recommended a great reptile vet.

    portable heat lamp?

I'm thinking of setting up a small, portable heat lamp for my young beardie. When I take him out of his cage to handle him, he's alert and curious for a while, then as he cools down he just gets sluggish and stays still. The temperature in my house is around 74 degrees. I'd like for him to be...

Can I feed adult male dubia to my 9" long beardie?

Thanks. How do I know when he's big enough to handle the adult male dubia?

Can I feed adult male dubia to my 9" long beardie?

If I've understood right, the rule of thumb is not to feed anything wider than the space between the beardie's eyes, but that the food can be LONGER than this. My dubia colony is producing a lot of extra adult males (with wings) that are around 2" long but are narrower than the space between my...

Dubia - what kind of dish for water gel?

I've started up a dubia colony, but I'm worried that the tiny babies can't climb into my water gel dish. I'm currently using a plastic lid with very short sides as a dish. What do other people use for dishes to contain the water gel but still let the tiny babies crawl in and out?

Who has an Exo-Terra terraruim or knows them? I Need advice!

Yeah, I like a plain, flat, one-piece top. One of the big benefits of the exo Terra is that you can get into it from the front. I got this one from amazon and it works great: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000QFQ30K/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1364084444&sr=8-1&pi=SL75

Who has an Exo-Terra terraruim or knows them? I Need advice!

I have this tank and had the same problem. I ended up buying a one-piece mesh top for it. Works great. My uvb tube is mounted inside and I have two dome lights sitting on top of the (new) mesh top.

    Keep my colony?

If you do decide to get rid of it I'd try to do it locally. Shipping it is going to be a huge pain. Try Craigslist, your local area section on this site, or a local reptile club to find buyers.

    My beardie hates phoenix worms

He'll eat tons of crickets, a bite or two of greens every day, but he doesn't seem to like phoenix worms at all. Anyone else experience this? I thought beardies were supposed to love them. He'll eat one every now and then if he's hungry and I offer it first. Then, after tasting that one it's...

Baby Beardie shivering. Is this normal?

Thanks, everyone. I haven't seen him shivering anymore but I'm keeping a close eye on him. I've moved his reptisun 10.0 so there's no longer a screen between it and my beardie. His basking spot is now about 10" away from the bulb. He seems to be a lot more active now. He walks around and...

Baby Beardie shivering. Is this normal?

Thanks! I'm really sorry to hear about your beardie and I'll definitely check into MBD. Regarding being too close to the uvb, he was basking a few inches away from it and always had the eye facing the uvb closed. He'd even keep that eye closed for a few minutes after leaving that spot and...

Baby Beardie shivering. Is this normal?

It was a steady subtle but noticeable shivering for the 60 seconds or so that I held him. Then I put him down because I thought it might be because he was scared. I'm not sure if he kept shivering after that or not. He still seems OK now. He ate a bunch of crickets for supper and is basking...

millipede looking things in with my crickets

I bought some crickets from the local pet store and just found some small millipede like worms hiding inside one of the egg crate pieces. They're around half an inch long and have lots of tiny legs. Here's a pic of one: http://www.imgur.com/kt0lnBy.jpeg Any idea what they are and how they got...
