It's baffling, really. If people wonder why loose substrates aren't good for bearded dragons this is a perfect example.

From what I understand, there are no pure German Giants left in the United States. He might have some GG in his bloodline but most people tend to label big dragons as German Giants when it isn't true. There is a lot to learn about bearded dragons and you've found a great site here! I would...

    Saya's Journey

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and positive thoughts! Woke up this morning to Saya again wondering why her light wasn't on yet (I might have slept in a few extra minutes...). She devoured more salad this AM (turnip greens and dandelion greens) and already has me wrapped around her...

    Saya's Journey

Hoping not but waiting to hear back from the vet on whether it's yellow fungus or not. Already doing betadine soaks and have a topical ointment for her. My friend isn't confident in her ability to sex bearded dragons but thinks hers is a male. She has a vet appointment scheduled for tomorrow...

    Saya's Journey

About a week ago I got a text message from a friend I met via the reptile world asking if I would be willing to take in one of a pair of bearded dragons that someone asked her to have. I wanted to say no as I already have three bearded dragons (two of which are rescues) as well as a variety of...

    Feeding a rescue leopard question.

Please also keep in mind if she is very skinny that too much protein up front could cause organ failure so you have to be careful. Leos tend to gorge themselves and are prone to becoming overweight. I would cut down on the amount of feeders as well as maybe try dubia roaches as they are easier...

    Leo Shedding Worries

For some reason even with a humid hide some leopard geckos have issues shedding (especially their toes). You want to keep a close eye on this guy and do the baths/saunas as needed to make sure he doesn't lose any toes.

    CRESTIE EMERGENCY PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Following Pastel's lead, can you provide more details? *What temps is the gecko kept in? *Are you misting the cage? If so, how often? *Are you feeding anything else beside or with the Repashy? Crickets? Baby Food? Fruit? *Has the gecko been defecating? Giving a bath per that video is a great...

    Calcified Eggs

Yes, she was x-rayed five months ago which showed the eggs and when she was recently x-rayed in regards to the RI she had the same number present in the same spot. Didn't get to call yesterday but hopefully will have the chance over the next day or so. My vet was a bit dumbfounded by it and...

    Calcified Eggs

The vet gave me the x-ray on a CD but my computer couldn't open the images so I've never seen them firsthand. I'll have to call her this week and see if there is any other way to send them over in a different format. She will consult and research if needed, she did so when my other dragon...

    coccidia??

I have this one and it works fairly well - http://www.amazon.com/BISSELL-Steam-Hard-Surface-Cleaner-39N7A/dp/B001EYHAGS/ref=sr_1_6?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1353085190&sr=1-6&keywords=steam+cleaner It's probably better to throw the cardboard boxes out every day or every other day as they might...

    coccidia??

First question, are the dragons housed together? If so, seperate them immediately so they aren't both contaminated. Dealt with coccidia with one of my dragons and it isn't a fun experience. I would suggest switching the substrate to paper towels so you can throw it away whenever the dragon...

    Calcified Eggs

Back story: I adopted Katara about 5 months ago from a woman who rescued her but then didn't have the means to continue her rehabilitation and care so I took her into my home. Katara is approximately four years old and came to me skinny, dehydrated, suffering from MBD, and tested positive for...

    Buddy is gettting darker?

The coils do not put off enough UVB and have been linked to eye issues with bearded dragons. You'll want to get either a Repti-Sun 10.0 (available at petmountain.com or Amazon) or an Arcadia 12%. You'll want to mount it inside the tank using an under-the-shelf light so the screen doesn't reflect...

New owner / Baby not eating :(

It's very unlikely the crickets scratched his throat especially since they were the right size. Also, contrary to what you vet thinks parasites can cause a dip or loss of appetite in bearded dragons. Is there another vet near you? I'd call and find out what they charge to do a fecal test as it...

    rex not eating

He might need a little while longer to warm up but it's crucial you get a proper UVB light and a digital thermometer (you can get one at Wal-Mart or on Amazon for about $12) as soon as possible. It's possible that the temps are not warm enough in his tank so he doesn't have the necessary heat to...

    Buddy is gettting darker?

Yes, UVB is VERY important for bearded dragons so not having one could easily have led to darker colors. Is the one you got a tube or a coil bulb? Also, you shouldn't really allow the humidity to get above 40% as much higher than that can cause URIs.

Brought Beardie to Vet 3x! Really need help!

Are you feeding him anything else aside from the apple sauce and olive oil? If he hasn't eaten anything in 2 weeks he might not have anything to poop out at this point. I would start with baby food squash and mix in some critical or carnivore care if you have any on hand. Medications for...

New owner / Baby not eating :(

I hate saying this but please don't take your vet's advice. As babies and juveniles they should be getting appropriately sized feeders 2-3 times/day and as much as he can eat in a 10-15 minute span so you were doing that correctly. He should also have a salad available every day though he might...
