    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

Hey Tracie, He definitely had coccidia when he came to me. Pinworms as well. Those seem standard issue for baby beardies. I had a vet visit for him right away, I always do with new animals. We caught it immediately, but he did have a couple months with it. He's fighting his feeds REALLY hard...

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

He's stable with no improvement. The key to keeping an atadenovirus dragon as healthy as they can be is being proactive with your care. Especially bloodwork. It tells you so much. I'm taking Izzy, my other dragon, on for bloodwork on a schedule.

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

Tracie, He isn't improved, just stable. While he seems less dehydrated his eyes are a little sunken, still. My worry is is he is still suffering from such pronounced malabsorption that stability simply cannot last. The best thing he has going is that he has been fighting me so much harder on...

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

He's back to his normal since my last post. I think it was vomiting. I'll just need to keep a close eye on how much he's drinking rather than letting him drink his fill. His PCR test came back. He is atadenovirus positive. My heart sunk. I already knew that was the problem, but there was always...

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

He's only 510 grams, and his head fat pads are depleting further, despite the feeding. His food is passing through, looking the same as it went in. Rather than forming a solid poop it's like I squirted out the feeding syringe in a puddle of liquid. He does have more curates coming. They're...

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

Small update, some results came back for bloodwork. His CBC (complete blood count) is normal. This means his red blood cell count was normal which means, in turn, his iron is fine. Also his mono and lymphocytes (white blood cells) are normal, so he's not fighting an infection. His Blood...

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

Tracie, I do not know how the tests space out, results wise. Honestly, I was so emotionally overwhelmed at the end that I just wrote down the numbers, didn't ask which estimates were for which and got on with getting down the rest of the info. They use that Avian and Exotics lab that I think...

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

Tracie, his tail base fat pads are completely depleted. His head pads are beginning to become concave. When we saw the vet yesterday he was actually concerned that there may be a growth low in his belly, beside the descending colon. It ended up being one of his fat storage locations, located...

    Digestion issues, possibly adenovirus

AHBD, I think he's definitely absorbing some of it. To clarify, the canned regular food has tiny chunks of chicken in it. Those pass through without breaking down. I've been reading about a dragon, nine years old, who has the virus and has been taken such good care of. He gets daily SubQ fluids...

    Liver Abscesses

Kaz DESPERATELY needs to put on weight. He's down to 428 and still was on the thin and lanky side at 479. He's not doing great. He vomited up his food from yesterday today. He had a bath and drank a little before. He must have breathed in some how because he was blowing nose bubbles when I...

Adult Male Bearded Dragon Stomach Volume

That's sort of my approach, yeah. I can't translate hornworms into liquid volume in my head, LOL. Today we're going to try for 5ml and see.

Adult Male Bearded Dragon Stomach Volume

I posted this ln my other thread but also thought to make its own thread. Does anybody have any idea what an approximate volume of an adult, male bearded dragon's stomach would be? I can't find anything online, and the vet actually didn't give me a specific amount for Kazoozle's tube feedings...

Does anybody have any idea what an approximate volume of an adult, male bearded dragon's stomach would be? I can't find anything online, and the vet actually didn't give me a specific amount for Kazoozle's tube feedings. He's niy reachable except on his two clinic days.

    Liver Abscesses

Hi Tracie, The vet didn't have any idea on how it would have happened. Unfortunately, it would all be conjecture. I imagine that the coccidia could have contributed. Since he had it when I received him I hypothesize that he'd had it the whole time. I've got him under a CHE at night, and bee...

    Liver Abscesses

Thanks, guys. I think the bee pollen covers all the same things that actual honey does. I don't want to add too much of a sugar heavy thing because it might crash his system. I'm adding water to the tube feeding, so that should deal with that. Oh, he also had a SubQ dextrose treatment at the...

Unusual XRay - Kaz showed URI signs/had a healthy gram stain

A weekly administered four week course of antibiotics isn't actually odd at all. As to the symtpoms, individually, no, they're of not much concern. However, combined as described they are symptomatic rather than normalized behaviour. Especially given the nighttime occurrence of the gaping and...

Unusual XRay - Kaz showed URI signs/had a healthy gram stain

The night before last I found Kaz awake at 11:30. Usually he sleeps soundly. He had his eyes open and a dark beard. He was very lowly contrasted and pale as well. The next day I found he was still pale and had a very dark tail. Additionally, he was darkly bearded off and on. I made an...
