    Atlanta CL Beardie

Should have kept a pic or something. It wasn't too bad, it just didn't seem like the beardie was getting proper care (no UV? really?). It was probably flagged because of an excessively high rehoming fee. You can't sell pets on CL, you can only charge reasonable rehoming fees. Hopefully the owner...

    Possible Brumation -- Too Young?

Thanks, Gail. That sounds like good advice. We think the black spot may actually be from rubbing his face against his rocks too much. He hasn't shed in two months and he's definitely a growing boy. Not sure why though; he gets lots of baths and his temps and diets are all good.

    Possible Brumation -- Too Young?

In addition to the above, this morning he suddenly has a black spot on the right of his beard and the scales around it are very loose. A photo is added below. Could someone please let me know if this is an issue or if this is normal? Please?

    Atlanta CL Beardie

This isn't the direst of situations...but I found this guy on Atlanta CL. The owner is asking $400 for this poor creature, who has no UV light and an infrared basking light. It seems this beardie also lost his tail at one point or may be infected...

    Possible Brumation -- Too Young?

Hello! Our beardie is showing all the signs of going into brumations (going into his hide most of the day, trying to sleep, going to bed early, etc). I think it's probably brumation, but he's only 6 and a half to 7 months old. Is brumation a likely explanation at his age, or is there something...

    Behavioral Problem

Digging lots? I would definitely get her something she can dig deeper in and maybe that has some cover. A box with several inches of coconut husk fiber may be a good choice.

    Behavioral Problem

It's certainly a possibility. Someone else may know better, so I'd wait for someone else to confirm. In the meantime, you might try to give her something to dig in and make sure she's getting plenty of food, water, etc.

6 week old barely eating...(got him May 10th)

I'd give it a couple more days before doing anything radical. They change eating habits a lot. I would recommend having his basking spot covered by the UVB as well, even if you have to shift it. They should be getting a lot of UVB as they need it to metabolize calcium. Are his crickets dusted...

A few questions about my new dragon

For sure, he'll get better with the crickets. Whatever you can do to get them to him in the mean time is great. Our baby wouldn't eat more than maybe 15 a day as a 1-2 month old. As he gets from 4-12 months, be prepared for 50-100 a day, more or less.

6 week old barely eating...(got him May 10th)

Gaping is good...he's getting the right temps. If he's getting too hot, he should move. No worries there. What kind of UVB is he getting? If it's not properly set, he may not be getting the energy he needs to metabolize. Also, he may be starting a first shed.

A few questions about my new dragon

Yes. He'll need to be a bit farther from the UVB than the basking bulb or you could cause some eye burn issues. Reptisun 10.0 is the healthiest, and you should have it 6-8 inches from him. It should run lengthwise, but try to get his basking area in there, as he will spend most of his time...

minimum size tank for a bearded dragon?

The Zilla UVB bulbs have a history of too much UVB output causing eye damage, etc. I'd recommend replacing with a Reptisun 10.0.

    grouting tile for tank

No problem. Also, Reptiworms (Phoenix worms) are great and a better staple for your beardie. Those with maybe roaches, silkworms, hornworms, or something like that would be a more balanced diet and you wouldn't have to worry about escapees through the cracks. :D

A few questions about my new dragon

Depends on the temp. As long as the cool side is around the mid 60s it should be find. He for sure needs both a UVB and basking bulb. Recommended is Reptisun 10.0. He needs to be able to get within 6-8 inches of his UVB if it is Reptisun. Others have different recommendations. As for the...

    Eyes half open?

Sorry I just read Zilla and posted. I misread it and thought that was the brand of the UVB, not the basking light. Apologies.

    help blood in poop

Keep him warm and hydrated until you can get him in. Make sure you tell the vet where it hit him and when. There's nothing else I know of that you can do except keep him from straining too much. Maybe put a towel down for him to sleep on so he's comfortable and get him in first thing in the morning.
