    Help Khaleesi (eye problem)

So I've read through the various "eye closed" posts on here, but I feel I need to describe mine specifically. Khaleesi is keeping one eye closed, all the time, and when she does open it she does so reluctantly and it looks irritated. There's no discharge or swelling, but the color looks off. I...

    Argument with a local breeder...

I emailed her. *****. Keep it going "troops"!

    Crickets are NASTY!

Is it just me, or does NO ONE have grown dubias to sell any more? Every person who normally sells them on this forum is out, as are the other online roach retailers. Is there a global shortage or something?

    Khaleesi Sha'Quan O'Gradaigh

Haven't posted many pics, so all you pic lovers out there, here's a few snaps of our beloved dragon. We just found out she was female when "he" surprised us with a clutch of eggs, which made sense because we'd always THOUGHT she was female but a vet made a mistake and told us she was male which...

Thought it was male, now SHE is laying eggs!

Very perky as a matter of fact all afternoon after the big lay. Right now she looks kinda tired, but still totally alert and active. It's also a half hour till bedtime for her. She's not straining that I can see. Thanks for the reply.

Thought it was male, now SHE is laying eggs!

Hello all, I got what I thought was a female about two years ago. Later on, a vet said "surprise, she's a he- found sperm in the fecal." Well, there must have been a mixup at the lab, because today she laid a clutch. Now I'm worried and posting this in ER because in my emergency...

The No Good Lousy Brumatin' Blues

Khal Drogo Hussein O'Gradaigh is taking it in shifts. He'll spend a couple of days dozing under his log or inside his turtle shell, then he'll spend a day or two out and about. He seems like he's not sure whether to brumate yet or not.

    Strange Poops

Second the parasites. Take a sample to your vet, more than likely it'll be positive for excessive pinworms or something.

    Protesting Beardie?

Switch to dubias- they're healthier AND cheaper.

I keep my roaches in a Cricket Keeper and use the dishes that came with it.

    Sand - yea or nay

A slew of "nays" will probably follow this post. Most of the experts on this forum will tell you that there's no such thing as completely safe sand, even ultra fine or "digestible" sand. Even putting the impaction risk aside, it still has a way of harboring bacteria, and can get into the eyes...

Tigger <3 The dragon :) *Picture heavy*

Awesome pics. Hate to be the jerk who criticizes, but in the friendly spirit of mutual support, I gotta put it out there- all the old experts on this here forum (of which I am not one, but I listen to them) will tell you that cohabitation is bad. You said "for the time being" so I figure you...

    Temp gun??

I got one at Lowe's. I wouldn't trust pet store stuff, especially Petco. They have a habit of making ineffective products (stick on thermometers and hygrometers, for example) and/or dangerous products (sand) just cause they know people will buy them.

New Viv Design I am working on

Second the overpricing. 400 beans? Apparently beardies are having their own housing bubble.

    sand question

I've also heard of it getting in their eyes, just one grain, and causing infections and the like, but that's not as common. No matter what you do, the beardie is gonna eat sand, and enough grains over enough time risk an impaction in their intestines. There are people who've used sand and...

    The Sand Box Question

So my young beardie (Khal Drogo Hussein O'Gradaigh, about a year old) doesn't have a sand box. What I want to know is... Is a sandbox very beneficial/recommended/necessary? If so, what should be in it, since sand is bad news?

New Viv Design I am working on

Would you make them in any other color? I'm thinking like a dark wood stain.

    sand question

There is no age at which sand is a good idea. It will always harbor bacteria, pose an impaction risk, etc. I predict this thread will explode in 3...2...

my first beardie <3 pics & question

Congrats on the beardie. Please allow me to give you some very important info, and forgive me if I sound nit-picky. Here's the best guide as to what you should be feeding him. http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html I'll second the mealworm thing- those can be dangerous for him at...
