Thanks for the info Tracie! It's soft to the touch. I will be checking on a few hero doctors in my area.

What is this bump? (Photo included)

We had a similar bump taken off her tail a few years ago, but unfortunately it was from a regular vet and was quite expensive. My question is if we even need to have this removed? As far as I can tell, it doesn't affect her at all and the 3 other beardies we have don't have this issue. She is...

A few Newbie Questions about Dubias :?:

As for feeding the dubias, I have used Rapashy's Bug Burger for the last few years. It works great for food as well as liquid (no water required in the bin). And they love it. I bought a huge bag of it for $35 and it lasts about 6 or 8 months. I got tired of trying to find the perfect...

    Egg crates for roaches

Went down to my local breakfast place about 11am Saturday morning and the manager gave me 15 or 20 egg crates for free. I've done this 3 times already and they last me quite a while! Make sure you call the manager first.

What do you feed your dubias?

After a few years of a roach colony my dubia breeding started slowing down. Plus it was a pain trying to figure the perfect diet. Then a local reptile shop recommended bug burger. Man this stuff is excellent and it has really helped breeding. Plus it also hydrates as well so I don't have to...

    Is Anyone Allergic To Dubias??

Thanks for the replies. I thought I was the only one allergic to this!! I'll just have to be more careful moving the stuff around inside their bin!!

    Is Anyone Allergic To Dubias??

Hi All, I've had a dubia colony for almost 3 years. But for the last 6 months or so, I've noticed that I now am allergic to my colony (basically being near my bin or getting roaches for our beardies). Is there something I'm missing as to why I would now get an allergy after all this time...

    Dubia and Cricket Food

I've been using Fluker's cricket diet for over a year and it works great! (Along with oranges every so often). I have big bin full of dubia and the large $10 jar lasts me 4 or 5 months.

    Male dubia with chewed wings

Thanks, Flash box? Is that the same as a power strip? (Which is what I have it plugged into). The top metal screen is right above the che so no chance of plastic melting. Zilla thermostat has been working fine for 2 years but I suppose anything could fail at any time. Thanks for the tip...

    roaches escaping

We have 5 beardies so every so often I might drop one and it scurries under the viv. But a few days later I'll either find it moving real slow, or one of our cats will have it cornered and playing with it! Like others said, if you never find one that escaped, it probably died. Funniest...

    Male dubia with chewed wings

I had issues with under tank heaters, etc. So I went with a ceramic heater and it works GREAT! Here's a video I posted a while ago that shows my setup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YiYykhNHuw

    AstroTurf? Tiles?

I use indoor/outdoor carpet cut to the size of my viv floor. For about $20 I got about 8 custom size pieces. When one's dirty, I replace it in 30 seconds. Then once a month I'll clean the dirty ones and have a clean set of 8 again!

    LETS SEE YOUR FEEDER COLONY/SETUPS!

Here's a video from a while ago. I have more dubias now, but the setup is pretty much the same. Ask if you have any questions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YiYykhNHuw

Do I HAVE to feed every day?

Yea, the grocery stores usually ahve it, but 80% of the time it's crappy quality. All saggy and wilted. I use a trick that the produce guy told me: Cut an inch off the end of the stalk and soak in cold water for about 15 minutes. Then thoroughly rinse and put in plastic bag in fridge...

Do I HAVE to feed every day?

Great idea about growing!! I think I'll check into that. I already have a dubia roach colony going so I might as well be totally self-sufficient!!
