Size. It's the digestive tract that's not fully unfolded when small.

    Superworms

If you have enough food and water, they won't eat each other. They're most likely doing what they're supposed to :)

    Superworm Accident

My dragon is 18" and regularly eats 12-18 every few days. Never had a problem.

    Superworms

It might take a week or two for newly morphed beetles to begin mating, then normally another week or two you'll notice very small worms. Noticing them will also depend on how many beetles you have. Finding offspring of 8 beetle will be more difficult than offspring of 80. Just be patient :)...

You won't see them. They're very small.

    superworms as a staple

Hey all. I know dragons can use superworms as a staple, but what else can? My dragon is brumating, and my super colony is growing quite rapidly... and I'm not going to pass up the excuse to add to my collection :)

    Helpp!

You can use MDF if it is sealed. I made mine out of MDF (which is what melamine basically is without the plastic coating) and sealed with the miniwax polycrylic. Which btw is much cheaper than mod podge.

    easy to breed staple?

Depending on the size of your dragon... supers are easy to breed. In my experience, they're easier than roaches.

    Superworm Question

I get by with 4 of the plastic shoebox tubs. I have venting slits cut into the top, and I like to use all whole oats so then I know when to change substrate. If you have a bunch of ground oats too, its a little harder to distinguish between superworm waste and the ground oats. I typically only...

Is it safe for them to go underwater?

They're a basking/desert animal so more than likely no, they don't like swimming. Although there could be a rare dragon that enjoys it... who knows? I wouldn't force my dragon to swim though.

    Misting spagnum moss - necessary?

http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html I feed supers as a staple, but only after your dragon reaches 16" or larger. I've also fed Discoid roaches and Dubia roaches. I know plenty of people swear by reptiworms too. There's also silkworms, butterworms, goliath worms (appropriately sized)...

    Superworm Question

Actually the eggs and small worms are way to small to get them out of the bin at first, so what I do is move the beetles to an empty tub, wait 3-4 weeks for the eggs and smaller worms to hatch/gain a little bit of size then move them into my small worm bin. By then its time to move beetles...

    Am I doing this right?

I doubt you'll find any on this site, but I'll look around. Edit: Hm... they seem harder to find than I would have thought, but I'm not surprised. Seeing as their output is much more appropriate for a bearded dragons at close range, then the bulbs that did in fact have quality issues would...

    Am I doing this right?

Well, my main point is that I'm sure you could find bad reviews about the reptisun too if you looked in the right places. Its just with a lower output, you probably won't encounter over-exposure to UVB often unless the dragon was sitting with its head in the hood. With that, I'll finish with...

Zilla Desert 50 UVB Fluorescent Bulb?

    Ugh, pick one thread! lol
  17. T

    Am I doing this right?

Then my question to you is, how close was your Zilla fixture in your own past experience? I'm trying to take an unbiased approach here, I have seen no real (statistically relevant) evidence to support the fact that the bulbs are the culprit rather than people placing them inappropriately. We...

Zilla Desert 50 UVB Fluorescent Bulb?

Have I done the data? It depends in what manner you refer to. I was meaning that the majority of people haven't even bothered to give the other brands a chance because so many people are preaching and indoctrinating how awful they are. So if you mean have I sat down and tested the output and...

    Am I doing this right?

Meh, then again it could have been people setting up the zilla (which has a higher intended UVB output) at the same distance that you'd want the ReptiSun which would create an excellent example of over exposure. All I'm saying is that rather than drop the bulb and go buy another one, you could...

    Building my viv, almost done!

Issues with a screen front is that 1) they can/will try to climb it and could get their claws stuck and end up yanking off a toe. 2) if they like to nose rub on it to try to get out, you could end up with some raw/bloody noses. You may also want to consider a divider, and make it 2 vivs...
