    Eggs: How delicate are they?

I realize that temperature is very important for egg development. I have heard that it should be in between 82 and 84 F. Will they not incubate well in regular soil or is a perlite/vermiculite mix necessary? I have not been able to find this stuff without some sort of additive or MiracleGrow...

    Egg substrate issue

My favorite girl just layed her eggs. The substrate is currently a mix of sand, soil, and perlite. However, I just noticed that the perlite I got has been enriched with MiracleGrow. I have a bad feeling about it and I think it might be harmful to the developing embryo. Any comments? Any knowledge?

    When will she lay?

My girl is gravid with her second clutch of eggs. She is fat and healthy, of course, and has everything she needs (proper lighting, nesting box with soil mixture....) but she has been digging around for about a week now and I have been able to feel her eggs for a while. My other girl lays pretty...

    TRANSLUCENT Health Concerns

I have a sub-adult translucent that seems to be perfectly healthy. However, it was suggested to me that translucents tend to have genetic problems. I have noticed that he is built differently; very long and thin with little muscling or flesh. Can any one provide more information on this subject...

    Back in the U.S.A!

Hello all! I just got back home (Texas) from living in Canberra, Australia. I was attending college at the Australian National University, taking courses in Biology and Ecology. As a Wildlife Biology major, I took every opportunity to see what kind of critters I could find. Being a lizard lover...

Sjdnei survives the peril for a week!

To make a long story short, my 10 year old male beardie named Sjdnei escaped from his cage during the night. Never happened before. I have 5 dogs that sleep in my room, three standard poodles, a miniature poodle, and my brother's South African Mastiff. So when I woke up to find him gone, I...

    ENCLOSURE ADVICE NEEDED FAST!

Hello All. I have been building a big enclosure for my dragons and I am a paranoid owner :). I Stained it on the outside. I tried not to put too much stain where the dragons will come into contact with it. I am also planning to line the walls and the floor with sticky tiles. I have read some of...

    NIPPED TAIL AND TOE

One of my little babies has a nipped tail and a nipped toe. Should I trim off the mangled and "dead" tissue with a scalpel and what should I use to clean the wound?

    Identification meathods

Does any one have any suggestions for identifying baby dragons. I have seen it where people put different colors of "paint" onto the beardies tail. I was wondering what kind of paint this is and when it is safe to put it on them. Thanks!

    Cute BABIES!! My first clutch!

My first clutch (and only clutch) of eggs hatched last night. The first one to hatch was "little Runtie". The second one to hatch was "Blue". Out of nine eggs, seven were fertile and hatched. Five of them are lively little buggers. Little Runtie and Blue are the ones I am worried about. Runtie...

    My new outdoor enclosure!

My brother and I built this about a week ago. It was fairly simple and we used scrap wood around the house. The frame was an old rabbit hutch. The Hardware cloth and staples are all we had to buy. I am going to put them in it for about an hour at a time until they get used to it.
