    Considering breeding

Wow thanks for the info! Ya know I am really tired of working for other people. It would be really cool to get paid for slaving over beardies.

Silkworm colony? Thinking of trying one...

It seems like the mulberry tree is pretty common. Any tips on spotting one in my area? I'm in downtown Richmond Va. It is fairly urban but there are parks and such. Do I have a good chance of just finding some?

    Considering breeding

Yeah I have been checking out their site but don't they have some way of keeping people from essentially becoming their competitors? I would assume neutered or spayed if possible

    Considering breeding

I am considering breeding dragons but I would want to have special ones if I did it at all. Is it possible to get colorful translucent dragons that are intact and can be bred?

    Seperate lighting question

check and check I didn't know I needed a ceramic one so I guess I lucked out on them being cheaper than the plastic counterparts at the hardware store. Well its bedtime for Rufus I'll post back with how he responds to the new setup tomorrow. Thanks for all your help Diane!

    Seperate lighting question

on top of a screen (but there is a sizable hole I put it over where the light melted the screen to the side of the enclosure when I was feeding him. huge temp difference between this and the last bulb I had)

    Seperate lighting question

im not sure how big the tank is but id guess 3'x18"x18" the bulb is 100 wat but is custom made and burns hot he basks about 10-14 inches away from that where the temp is about 106 degrees. I have read that it should be between 110-120 but he seems most comfortable with a little less than that...

    Seperate lighting question

im using a radiant heat gun thermometer. you should be able to find what I'm talking about at tempgun.com actually this could be the problem bc i don't have an area for him cooler than 88 degrees so I am going to change this right now and see what happens with his behavior. Don't feel overly...

    Seperate lighting question

also the log he prefers overall is the one he is avoiding bc it has the mega ray. I just switched the lights as an experiment and he switched basking areas. I wouldn't be as concerned if I weren't worried he might not be getting uv at all bc i took away the old florencent system

    Seperate lighting question

Well I read on that site that it is best to have 2 basking areas one with uv and one with out. this way he can regulate his temp and uv seperately both the lights are similar in distance from basking object and similar in temp

    Seperate lighting question

After reading about the Megaray light from reptileUV.com I had to get it and so I did. Now I have the megaray lamp on one side and a normal heat lamp on the other and I have the temp gun so basking temp is not an issue. My beardie seems to hate this new light. He never goes over to the megaray...

    Silkworms are beardie superfood!

As for where to get them my advice would be to look on the boards for what members have for sale. With a little luck I hope to have surplus to get rid of in a month or two.

    Silkworms are beardie superfood!

After reading about silkworms I had to try them out and Rufus loves them. I am going to start growing my own and I just wanted to publicly thank member i182willsw. I told him what I wanted do just before midnight on Friday and I received everything I needed on Monday afternoon for a very...

    Bumbs under legs

Rufus is 2 yrs old and male. He has these bumps under his hind legs that I never noticed before. It actually seems normal bc they are small and there are 4 on both leg and placed symmetrically. Still does anyone else's beardy have theses and what are they?

    OPEN EYES CLOSED EYE/EYES

Yeah Rufus does the same thing or if he's full he might go from looking at the food to dramatically swinging his head to look me dead in the eye with one hairy eyeball. I consider us both somewhat dominant males so I give a slight stink eye back

    OPEN EYES CLOSED EYE/EYES

yeah thats what I think too. most animals have limited overlap between eye's fields of vision so rather than move his head he is just focusing with the one. They don't need to look dead on unless they need to judge distance.
