calcium sand is actually more likely to cause impaction than sifted play sand because it clumps when it becomes wet. i think most users will recommend a slate or tile, or non adhesive shelf liner to use for a substrate

nope cause you can adjust the angle the bulb is at inside the hood. And its angled more down. So if she goes on the rock she will be out of the direction of the spot heat bulb but closer to the uvb bulb. The heat lamp is aimed more towards the base of the big rock :p
