Do you ever completely change superworm substrate?

We ordered our superworms from Great Lakes Hornworms and have been very pleased with them. Our dragons went on a dubia strike so the superworms were a life saver. I initially ordered 500 of them and we've been feeding out of those for I'm guessing around 3 months now. They are in the...

    New owner questions

We acquired a leopard gecko on Saturday; his previous ownders decided they didn't have the time for him. He's a handsome guy who's age is estimated to be around 2 1/2 years. He looks healthy, not skinny, bright colors, and was pretty calm handling him when we picked him up after being a bit...

Illegal to ship dubia to Florida?

I was thinking it was mentioned here last year (or so) that shipping dubia to Florida was illegal. Is this true?

    Lighting woes?

I'm just not sure here. I'm mechanically inept so I'm looking for help. Vijah's reptisun 10.0 (36") blew last week, we've never had one blow. On one end it was blackended for about 2 inches. I went online to petmountain.com and bought another one. It came today, but it's skinnier than the...

    Brumating and UVB light?

I'm so sure this is a duplicate post, but I just can't find it. Please forgive me and humor me.... Our Scout has gone into his super-expensive, high-tech hide (a shoe box) and has covered himself up with the blanket and hasn't moved for the day. I'm assuming he's going into brumation. He's...

    Adult male dubia hurts dragon?

We are feeding off some adult males. Scout, our 15 1/2"er loves them. He's been eating them fine until yesterday. I put a male in the bowl and it landed on its back with the legs just a kickin'. Scout jumped over to it and bit down on the back end. He immediately dropped it and jumped back...

    Large number of male dubias.....

We went through the tote tonight. We had 260-something females and a huge amount of males. I kept about 45 males and the others are in a 10-gallon plastic tote. That is the only available tank/tote I have right now. I'm guessing there are around 100 males in it. Will they kill each other...

    Turk Infestation!!!`

Good. Grief. We had Turks way back in the fall time I think it was. They were kept in the detached garage because they are incredibly fast. Since my 10 year old son pulls the roaches out I was just tooooooo afraid they would escape him inside the house. We kept them for about a month then...

I'd like to try an adult dubia with Scout....

but I'm a little afraid. He's eating 1/2" dubia like nobody's business. He's an absolute pig. He's around 5 months old I'm guessing and last time I checked (about 3 weeks ago) he was 14 1/2- 15". I see where others are feeding them at that size, but they also say "if it falls in the rule of...

Pictures of underside of female and male dubia.

I'm having trouble locating the thread showing the differences between the females and males. I remember it being the last little section, but can't remember if the larger section is female or male. Does anyone have that thread bookmarked or know a better way to search for it. Thank you!

    Photos of my boys....

We've had Scout now for about 2 months, this one is my baby. She came home measuring approximately 6- 6 1/2". She was so wild I was unable to properly measure her, hard to handle, and a PIG (forget relocation stress and shedding stress)! Fast forward 2 months and she is really a he, still a...

Glass dancing, black bearding, licking everything - ?????

All of a sudden Scout is behaving oddly. She's (actually a he) about 11" now, I've had her about 2 months. Two nights ago she was rubbing herself against the glass and then yesterday she shed her torso and head; legs and tail were earlier last week. Today she's trying to climb the glass with...

    When waxworms begin turning blackish.......

are they still okay to feed? I noticed a few worms in the tub turning blackish. They also feel more firm than the ones that are the cream/tan color. This is the first tub of waxworms we have gotten, I'm not use their "ways". Another poster says they do not last very long so I'm sure we wont...

What am I missing regarding waxworms?

I received a free tub of waxworms from a local petstore. I put them in the fridge as instructed. We've been feeding each beardie one a day. How do you know if they are good? They take FOREVER to start moving after coming from the fridge. I had one yesterday that never did move. I threw it...

Can they eat too many silkworms? (hopefully not too much inf

Our newest little guy/girl is about 8-9", we've had her about 6 weeks now. We have a dubia colony, but it's not producing enough to feed completely out of yet. I've been ordering silkworms in the meantime and supplementing with crickets between orders. Scout will eat around 12-17 sikworms at...

I'm looking to buy some small silkworms. MF is out of stock. Does anyone know how quickly they replenish that? I was hoping to order in time for shipping this week; looks like I'm too late.

Introducing our new little baby Scout.

Here is our new addition. I'm pretending she's a girl for now (and will pay for his therapy later if needed :D ). Her name is Scout. We've had her for 3 weeks now and I estimate she's grown 1/2 - 1" since that time. She is so wild I can't lay her down and hold a ruler up next to her so...

Independent, fiesty baby beardie-- what does adulthood hold?

I know this is a wait and see type of question, but just wondering about your experiences. We have a new baby in the house. We've had her (I'm pretending she's a girl for now) for 3 weeks, her name is Scout. She was 6-6 1/2" when she came home from the petstore. She's 7" now. Here are some...

Does your beardie crawl onto your hand from his/her cage?

I'm wondering if a beardie every gets to the point where when you put your hand in they crawl on to be brought out. Does your's do this? If so, how do you train her to do that? We have a new baby beardie. I think I would just like to see her WANT to be with me, not just tolerate me.
