    Front Leg Issues

She's not moving around like a normal dragon, but she does crawl. When I noticed her yesterday, I was putting in some fresh zucchini (first one out of our organic garden) and she ate that pretty quickly. Today she'll be getting greens and worms and we will see how that goes.

    Front Leg Issues

Yea - that's what I was assuming, figured a second look would be a good idea. I'm going to treat it as that for now, and see if there is any improvement supplementing with liquid calcium. I'm hoping to avoid a vet visit - considering every exotic vet visit I've had has cost me $150+ each time...

    Front Leg Issues

About two weeks ago I received a phone call from my vet - one of their clients had a bearded dragon they needed to rehome ASAP. I gave him a call and arranged to pick it up that same day. The dragon, which is around 5-6 years old, is fairly small. I haven't gotten a weight on her yet, but she...

Recent addition - Older dragon w/out UVB

I wanted some input on a recent dragon I acquired. This dragon is several years old (unknown age) and was at a school for some time. When the teacher left, it was handed over to another. They have cared for it for at least a year now, if not longer. They did not intend to keep it for awhile, and...

    Mid Atlantic Reptile Show!!!

We've got the past 2 years, and will be attending again! Can't buy anything other than food/caging/non-living items, but it's always fun to just walk around. We'll be there on Saturday (most likely), so if you spot someone in a "The Reptile File" (back and front) t-shirt, that's me! It's so...

In need of a beardie blanket

I 100% agree with this one! Nibs and Spike both have their own blankets from Dawn, and they love them. It takes a little time to get them, but it is well worth it. I even got a human blankie from Dawn - it's my favorite! I cover Nib's up with her blankie, then we snuggle under mine together.

    Lighting scare!

Ordering a bulb online may be easiest, and usually the cheapest. I always pickup mine up from That Pet Place during their anniversary sale, mostly due to the $15 cost. As for a hood/fixture, have you checked out craigslist? I got a hood which holds 2 lights and a UVB bulb for free from someone...

    Clipping Bearded Dragon Nails?

I've actually had good luck using human nail clippers on my dragons (and juvenile monitor). Generally, I only have to cut a small amount off (like others said, don't cut too far).

swapping my heat bulb for a sun glo?

I always get indoor/outdoor flood lights from HD and use them for my beardies and monitor. I actually get away with 45w bulbs as well. It's cheaper than the reptile bulbs, and they seem to last a lot longer.

    When they are hungry...

He usually gets some worms in the afternoon, when my fiance's mom comes down (she likes to feed everyone - which explains how I had a 110g leopard gecko...) to take care of a few things. I don't like leaving them in the AM, as I leave around 7:30 and him and Nibs don't get up until 10AM.. or...

    When they are hungry...

He gets a lot of food actually. My older one never did this, which is why I thought it was amusing. I generally leave veggies in his dish when I leave for work in the AM, then he gets live food after I return from work, and sometimes during the day if someone else is home. I'm gone before he...

    When they are hungry...

When your beardie is hungry, do they let you know? The past few days my little one has started trying to 'eat' his food dish whenever he wants food. It's really annoying, as it is a ceramic dish. This one isn't even a year old yet (8-9 months now), so it's kinda cute. My older one will just lay...

Hasn't eaten (on his own) in 9 MONTHS!!! HELP

I picked mine up from Beautiful Dragons awhile ago: http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.com/Meds.html Probiotics replace the good bacteria in the system. Found this about it: Pet Authority Acidophiliz+ contains highly potent lactobacillus acidophilus cultures (the healthy cultures found in...

Hasn't eaten (on his own) in 9 MONTHS!!! HELP

pscaulkins - I'm glad I'm not the only one that has an animal with issues with powdered supplements. I supplemented my leopard gecko and she still developed MBD, and broke her leg. We have since switched her over to liquid calcium and haven't had an issue since. No one really understood how she...

That Pet Place - Weekend Sale

We went today. I have to say, I am disappointed with their fish section now. The saltwater area was pretty nice last year, but it looks like hell now. We always buy snails and other things for the saltwater tank - 20% off inverts/fish really comes in handy ($1.59 a snail, vs the $4 snail in...

    STUART TAKEN BY HAWK

I'm so sorry about your little one. You are not alone with wildlife taking your animals. My sister had prairie dogs, one of which was taken by an animal. We never did figure out what it was, but one of her dogs later returned parts of the skeleton to her... I hope no one else has to experience...

That Pet Place - Weekend Sale

I'm hoping this is more of a neutral area to post this.. That Pet Place is having their annual anniversary sale this weekend. I've gone the past few years and have always had a blast. Different people come out to speak (Forgotten Friends Reptile is going to be on at 10AM Saturday), and they...

    HR669 Banning of exotic pets!!!

I agree. I believe it is more to target exotic animals, not the typical dog/cat. http://www.govit.com/vote/congress.aspx?bill=2009-hr-669

    HR669 Banning of exotic pets!!!

(email sent out) Urgent Letter to the Reptile Nation / HR669 Reptile Nation, I know that we are facing dangerous and confusing times for the Reptile Community. Our end is upon us if we don't take decisive action to save ourselves. We have the power to decide our own future if we will only...
