Swim on a hot summers day.

Thank you, they spend most of the year there. We bring them in on winter nights when it gets cold, but it's summer here and they have caves that they sleep in.

Swim on a hot summers day.

Simon & Stitch, cooling down with a splash. Stitch stays in the water for a long time & she swims under water most of the time. They are over 5 years old now & are a big part of our extended family.

How do I tell what *kind* they are?

Hi, remember that beardies change colour according to the temperature. The warmer the lighter & the colder the darker, so if you can find the best temp with the best lighting where the beardie has time to relax & change colour, then you should be able to get a good pic. Any sudden change in temp...

    odd....

Haha, reminds me of a kid not liking this or that! Maybe it's a case of an acquired taste as they get older? keep putting new things in but what about seperating the new & favourite foods so that the new smells etc are introduced now while he's still young?

    Beardies toilet area.

My viv is outside so the odd insect flies in and gets eaten. I've noticed ladybug shells in their poop and I think that those parts of the creature that are indigestable are just excreted. This is natural, as long as they are getting a balanced diet. I reckon it's a good form of roughage!! :)

No, they just don't like their pooh. (Smelly stuff!) They'll leave it for us slaves to sort out.

    Beardies toilet area.

My viv is quite big and I have noticed that my beardies only pooh in the one corner furthest from their sleeping cave. They have basically always done this and I was interested to to know if anyone else has noticed this kind of behaviour as well?

    Springs back!

Thank you, yes they do love it outside. They are outside permanently except for at night time in winter. I have posted other pics in the past so you might like to see them.

    Springs back!

After 5 years living like this with no problems I don't think I'll change. Stitch digs & buries +-20 eggs a month and this is done instinctively. I don't believe in stifling any of my pets natural behaviour. Australia has plenty of sand!

    Springs back!

They are male & female (Simon & Stitch) and have been together their whole lives. He gets a bit amorous at times and starts by running around doing the head bobbing thing, displaying his beard, then he approaches her from behind & grabs her on the spikes at the side/back of her head, but it...

    Beardie Garden?

Try radish, they grow quickly, also carrots. I have a big water dish in the viv and I put the radish & carrots in the water with the leaves out. The leaves stay fresher like this. Pea leaves & their flowers are another favourite, as well as nasturtiums. Here's a very good site to visit...
