    Wooden platform

I've been using two cut off sections of 2x4's placed parallel , topped by another as a crossbeam so Gladstone can get up high under the heat. It has worked fine for him as far as basking goes. The only thing is the wood is redwood which crumbles easily and I noticed the crickets chewing on it...

    Underfloor heating

So, please tell me, are all heating pads very bad and likely to inflict burns? I have a ceramic one.I was thinking of putting a layer of felt or blanket between it and the usual flooring (he has plastic coated shelf paper on his floor). Our house gets very cold at night in winter and no night...

    Is he addicted?

I have heard that beardies can get addicted to certain foods and now I think Gladstone is addicted to fruit. He has not eaten greens for weeks now but holds out for blueberries, raspberries, grapes, cantaloupe- all the yummy sweet stuff. He used to go crazy for nasturtiums, dandelions etc but...

    On and off brumation?

Gladstone is 2 1/2 yrs old. He has been through brumation so I know what it looks like, at least I thought I did. Last December he "went down" gradually and slept for about 2 weeks in January and I thought his second brumation was doing pretty good. Since then it seems he's never fully woken...

    What's happening to Gladstone?

Help! I had a healthy-looking, active, regularly- eating and pooping beardie till this morning. Today he has not moved from his sleeping placer on the floor of his cage, is not interested in even his favorite food and his eyes have been half closed. I just turned off his heat lamp and left...

    Not eating . . .HELP!

He brumated for 3 months, almost to the day. He looks healthy, no apparent weight loss, but he has not eaten since he woke up and it's over two weeks. He had a couple of bites of cucumber the 3rd day awake and another bite yesterday but that's all. He just lies around, eyes his veggies, can't...

    Coming out of brumation

Gladstone has been "down" for 3 months (and I'm so so grateful for that awesome article by Denise Bushnell that you have on this site. ) He wakes up some days for about two hours but just sits there under his light, no eating, no moving. Then he falls asleep again on his log and I put him back...

    Rabbit cage for Gladstone

He loves it! He can climb up and get tickled under his chin any time he wants. I built a kind of jungle gym inside so he can bask properly. The "gym" is based on an upturned dish-drainer and he can crawl through it on the floor to be private if he wants. The cage is nice and WIDE so better...

    Nostril blocked

Gladstone seems to have one nostril blocked with white stuff ever since he woke up from brumation. It's not messy or anything but just not a hole he could breathe through, unless there's a tiny tiny airway there. Otherwise he's thriving and THANK YOU THANK YOU for the excellent 10-page article...
