Constant black beard - she's not happy

Hi guys, hoping someone can help or if you just have an inkling, please don't hold back :) Last year Loki layed 3 clutches of eggs, so when she started acting the same way a few weeks ago, I prepared the laying box for her again. So far she has shown no interest in it at all, despite not having...

turning off ReptiGlo 10 compact & BEES

Wow - 12 bees?! The wattage for the tube will depend on what length you go for, the uv tubes don't have an output any higher than a regular fluorescent tube :)

    I'm back!

Hi everyone, I'm back after I don't know how long - maybe a year? Would love anyone who remembers me to fill me in on what's been going on  Thinking about it, I can't really remember why I stopped coming on here :? I've still got Loki and Bartleby, poor Loki had 3 clutches of eggs earlier...

turning off ReptiGlo 10 compact & BEES

Hard to believe I know, but he will be much better off without the reptiglo until you can get a decent bulb. I would say about an hour of good sunshine will make up for it, but don't beat yourself up if you can't manage that every day. As for the bees, I know of dragons that have eaten bees and...

    Second UVB

Oh ok, the 2.0's do have alot more usable light so if you can get them so cheaply it sounds like it's the best option for you :D

    More Mega-ray questions lol!

Yeah that sounds good to me, then in a few months time I would just cut the nutrobal down to once a week :)

    Second UVB

Instead of paying for another uvb bulb when a repti-sun 10.0 is plenty, I would buy another normal fluorescent bulb just to give extra light. Something used for aquatics would be good, look for a Kelvin rating of around 5-6000K which is a warmish white light.

    More Mega-ray questions lol!

MissT, even tho nutrobal has d3 in it, it is still safe to use. I have yet to find a vitamin supplement that I would trust that does not have d3 in it.

is it in your viv? Any adhesive when heated can give off toxic fumes, so don't use it inside :)

Feeding small amounts of wet cat food?

I wouldn't recommend feeding cat food, it sounds obvious, but it's made for cats. I know some vets will advise feeding Hill's A/D, but I don't see why a dragon shouldn't get it's protien requirements from normal feeders like crix and supers.

You would not survive with Swatke...

Ha, can beat you easily poisoned! Loki recently kept it in for 4 weeks for no rhyme or reason. I think maybe she's too lazy to push it out :puke:

    Safe "treat" foods

I wouldn't advise feeding eggs or chicken, whether raw or cooked. Both are very high in protien. Waxies and fruits are safe treats for a dragon :D

I need advice for my setup

Humidity should be around 30-40%, under 20% can cause problems with their ear membranes drying out. i wouldn't spray because that will give you spikes in humidity, you could just put in a small dish of water and that will raise the humidity overall and keep pretty constant.

ok .....why isnt my beardie basking?

I'd like to apologise to Trisha, it was not my intention to start arguing in your thread. I do not feel like I basically said "your dragon is a bad example of a bearded dragon", but if it came across like that, then I'm sorry. Atreyu, I sent you a pm

My little guy has a lump under his arm

I think it's a good idea to go and see your herp vet. Seeing that's it not the start of an impaction, it may just be the start of a cyst that needs draining but only a vet can say for sure :D

ok .....why isnt my beardie basking?

I am aware of the problems concerned with Great Danes, that is a man-made problem. However, since beardies have only recently started being bred in captivity, we should aim to keep them as strong as possible while we can. In the wild a 13" beardie would not survive, and certainly wouldn't breed...
