    Aphrodite crossed the rainbow bridge

This past Spring, I was contacted by a member of BD.org. He had to relocate up north, and had make the wrenching decision to part with his 12 year old beardie, Aphrodite, rather than put her through the trauma of such a drastic change at the end of her life. So, I gladly took her in, knowing...

    Some GOODbyes and an introduction

Well, I said goodbye to two beardies yesterday, but they did not cross the rainbow bridge. Actually, I sent them out into the workforce to earn their keep! Both went into an education program where they will be doted on and will be helping to educate kids. Bruce came to live with us in...

    BIG cyber hugs to Frances!

I couldn't figure out where to post this, so since I want to send sympathy to Frances, I will post here. I got a message from Frances, slavetoIzzy, this morning with very sad news that her Izzy passed away in his sleep. She is heart broken, and frankly, so am I. When I first joined bd.org...

    Bella laying AGAIN! HELP!

So she started getting antsy a few days ago, and is now in the box laying as I write. She just laid 34 eggs at the end of march! Is it common for a female to lay every 2-3 weeks or is she a freak??? How can I make her stop?? They are infertile, of course.

    Sparky is gone

I lost my best buddy today after three days of trying to save his precious life one more time. Even though I was not ready for him to go, I know that he was. I cannot express the joy he brought me, and I am heart broken. I will try to write something in the memorial section later. In the...

    Update on Bruce with pics

I posted about Bruce when he came in around the middle of December. He was very underdeveloped for his age, was thin, had pins and coccidia, and had outward signs of MBD. Here he was then Well, we treated the pins and the MBD. But he still has coccidia, and is on his second treatment. He has...

Only 4 eggs. Time for the vet???

My Bella laid her first batch of eggs a few days ago. They are infertile. But she only laid 4! I never felt any in her abdomen, and don't feel any more now. I have given her some liquid calcium, and LOTS of feeders. Is it possible that she only developed 4 eggs or should I be worried??? :?

Bella laying, How will I know that she is finished???

My 2.5 year old Bella is laying her first batch of unfertilized eggs this afternoon. She layed the first two on the viv floor because even though I suspected that she was gravid, I couldn't feel anything, so I didn't get a box in until after the first two. Then she basked a little, got in the...

Poor Bella. She's a big girl now!

Bella, my two and a half year old baby is laying her first set of eggs! She started acting a little strange about two weeks ago, but she is strange, so I didn't think much of it. But a few days ago, she started digging, and I felt her abdomen, and felt nothing! Well, you can't always feel em'...

    Meet Juliette, MBD rescue beardie

I have mentioned my latest rehab beardie, a little female that has had the worst case of MBD that I have ever dealt with. I am happy to report that while her limbs, tail, and rib cage will never be normal, she will not be stopped! She is quite a case! She runs, she black beards, she head bobs...

    Question about ballasts

We are having a fairly consistent winter this year, so I have all of my lizards in the main part of my house. Some of the smaller lizards are in 20longs. So, I really can't work out putting their Megarays over all of them, and will be using reptisun 10 tubes for the rest of the winter. My...

    "Special" Beardies

Hi Yall. I have a question that I thought I would throw out to this fabulous community and see what kind of answers I get. As you all know, I take in and rehab reptiles, then try to find good homes for the ones that have minimal issues and are adoptable. Well, I am getting more and more beardies...

    Rescue baby PORKER! LOL!

This was the baby 5 days ago. He is 5-6 months old, has mild MBD, and is obviously stunted. Here is the little porker now! He had just eaten a big fat horn, and was in that stuffed after supper stupor In this pic, you can see the shift in his jaw from the MBD, but I am hoping that...

    My new rescues

These came in today. The first is a baby that is at least several months old and is no bigger than a hatchling. He also has signs of the beginning of MBD, but it isn't too bad. The other is a totally awsome fire skink. What else can I say. Just look.

    Play Date!

Hey yall! I have been promising slavetoizzy some pics for a really long time, but have been so busy that even though I have taken pics, I rarely have time to post them. Well, today I caught a few of the whole beardie family minus one! Sandy is too aggressive to let out with other beardies, and...
