    Aphrodite crossed the rainbow bridge

This past Spring, I was contacted by a member of BD.org. He had to relocate up north, and had make the wrenching decision to part with his 12 year old beardie, Aphrodite, rather than put her through the trauma of such a drastic change at the end of her life. So, I gladly took her in, knowing...

The War at Home * Victory! Freedom at last! *

Herr Huffmeister, good to hear from you again! Private Trixie here, master of eavesdropping and stubbed tails. I can tell you that Jasper was a hunk of beardie second only to my beloved, belated Sparky. :love5: Had I not fallen helplessly and hopelessly in love with that distinguished older...

    Some GOODbyes and an introduction

Well, I said goodbye to two beardies yesterday, but they did not cross the rainbow bridge. Actually, I sent them out into the workforce to earn their keep! Both went into an education program where they will be doted on and will be helping to educate kids. Bruce came to live with us in...

    "False" Uromastyx?

Well, they are actually more closely related to beardies than uros. They are more insectivore than beardies, but care is similar, I think. The scientific name is Xenagama, and there are two sub species that people call false uros. I would research their care if you are really interested in...

Gina, that is a beautiful image. Do you think we should send it to Frances or wait until she comes back? I sent her a link to this thread.

    BIG cyber hugs to Frances!

I couldn't figure out where to post this, so since I want to send sympathy to Frances, I will post here. I got a message from Frances, slavetoIzzy, this morning with very sad news that her Izzy passed away in his sleep. She is heart broken, and frankly, so am I. When I first joined bd.org...

Tatsu: Can I join your army?

This is Bella, speaking for the SE Texas regimen. We are all devastated and grieving for our fallen comrade. Our Queen, the lovely Cassandra, is beside herself with grief! She has taken to her cave and cannot stop weeping! She would never have tolerated sharing her handsome suitor with another...

    Bella laying AGAIN! HELP!

She gets plenty of calcium. I give her about a half a cc of liquid calcium at least once a week, and she gets butter worms, silk worms, and salad dusted with calcium a few times a week. She has just laid so many eggs in such a short amount of time! It would take four tubs of pheonix worms to...

    Bella laying AGAIN! HELP!

She is finally looking thin after this batch. I really need to push the feeders. I just bought another 1000 supers and I have a whole vat of small silks and 200 butter worms! That will last about a week! So the fact that they are mostly soft doesn't mean that she is calcium deficient?

    Bella laying AGAIN! HELP!

Here they are. 23 this time. They are all so soft except for three! Does she need more calcium or is that just how infertile eggs are??

    Bella laying AGAIN! HELP!

Amy, take away! I could use that info, too! I have a friend who breeds beardies and she says she has never known a beardie to lay as many infertile eggs and sets as Bella has, and I am sorry to say that she appears to be brooding again! Fortunately, she is stupid healthy!
