    False brumation or something?

Kazoku for the two years he's been alive does something strange around November, December, and a bit of January. He'll refuse to eat once the cold winter days have taken hold of our city, however that's where that detail ends. Kaz is still as alert and active as any other season, maybe vibing...

    Beardie bite force

Sooo I may have found some of my answer, they slam that mouth shut like a mouse trap and oh boy does it hurt. I didn't stick my thumb in far but ow. Just to inform you guys Kazoku is trained to allow me to gently pry open his mouth so he's cooperative with the vets and for me to check his health.

    Sleeps all day

So as Reddit put it for my previous beardie; sleeping all day is not a good sign. UVB is a requirement for reptiles and their ability to digest and grow. Assuming I read this correctly about the carpet, I suggest removing access for her to get under that. For a UVB bulb the best vet recommended...

How often do sperm plugs occur

So Kazoku got a recent sperm plug and it got me wondering; how often does a male beardie release sperm or get a sperm plug? Kazoku is only a year and almost a half old. Last one he had was in February-March. He isn’t showing those signs to get that jail bonk (leaving a word out since I do not...

    Beardie bite force

I mean I am aware that baby beardie bites barely hurt, although what I’m focusing on is the sheer muscle adults beardies have to their jaws compared to a dog’s jaws. Have you seen how many sharp teeth beardies have? It haunts me on how painful they would be on human skin.

    Beardie bite force

I’ve seen them slice cleanly through chicken and various veggies. Of course for reference, I can pry open my Maltese Yorkie mix’s mouth open easily but a 400g lizard is near impossible to do. This is something I think about every morning. How strong is the force behind a beardie’s bite? How...

    Pheobe's gross poop mystery

No problem, I just want you and your beardie to be happy. I don’t want Pheobe to run into the same things that caused Dio so much pain and suffering. Keep me updated on her progress too! :D

    Pheobe's gross poop mystery

That beardie looks like poor Dio when she was very ill. We might need a separate thread for this but I do want to keep this intertwined with this one to find my answers too. How well is your beardie eating and how often does he eat? Just took a quick glance at your profile’s activity to get some...

    Finding closure on Dio’s sickness

Umm MBD and parasites were ruled out during Dio’s last check up before we put her down.

    Pheobe's gross poop mystery

Ah that, yeah that behaviour with the beard is normal. If it was like the beard was a balloon from chin to neck then I would be worried. The yawning, I know my late sick female did it, I’ve seen a video of another female yawning. My current male beardie has never yawned. Maybe it’s a female...

    Pheobe's gross poop mystery

Hmmm, if those aren’t passing correctly I’m a little concerned. This kind of gives me answers for something else but that depends if it leads into that. If she is puffing her beard like that and not “frilling” it (a skirt form thingy made at the lower beard) and opening her mouth this could lead...

    Finding closure on Dio’s sickness

It’s been over a year since I put Dio to sleep. If you read my previous threads “Sore scabbed lips” and “progress in her recovery” there is a little bit of detail about her there. Basically I got her as a fresh adult from someone on Kijiji, also the name caught my eye since me, my brother, and...

    Pheobe's gross poop mystery

I’m not the best to answer or question it although I’ll do my best from the knowledge I have of my previous beardie. I see she’s got her eyes closed in one photo is that after being pet on the head or during night time? How often or when does she sleep? In terms of food, does she get lots of...

Do you think your bearded dragon loves you?

This is surprisingly a debate I really only see with beardies. If a betta fish can have personalities; beardies have feelings. Kazoku sure has a bond to me. A few days ago I was petting him, his eyes closed. I started thinking what would I do if he was very sick, I was crying a bit, he noticed...

Active, wanting cuddles but won’t eat partial brumation?

Yeah, I just weighed Kazoku and he is roughly 420 grams. He’s gaining his appetite back, think that plug was the culprit as my friend suggested. His fat reserves in the base of his tail are pretty much empty, I think. Thanks for the help :)

Active, wanting cuddles but won’t eat partial brumation?

Here’s a picture of his set up and of him. UBV is wired to the underside of the lid (this tank was really built for anything other than reptiles). I keep him on my bed he mostly observes me playing Subnautica or Ark. I don’t have any good way to measure him other than saying his length from...

Active, wanting cuddles but won’t eat partial brumation?

We give him water and a bath probably once a week (or whenever my mom feels like being a sucker for him lol). The usual temperature for his enclosure is 89.6°F, UVB bulb is Arcadia (vet recommended). Judging how he hates pellets with a burning passion I’m not sure he’d enjoy baby food. Subsrate...

Active, wanting cuddles but won’t eat partial brumation?

So after consulting a former beardie owner on Discord I may have found one part of why Kazoku wasn’t eating or passing things; he had a second (censored) plug. On the day I spoke to them like an hour prior I attempted to force feed freeze dried mealworms and crickets. I got a bit in him although...

How to stop 6 month old beardie from goes after our finger and toe nails

I’m looking at this and I think this beardie has seen the “Your toes, hand em’ over.” meme. On a serious note; in terms of food at 6-7 months old I believe that is their peak ravenous timeframe. I’d suggest handling him a lot more, including petting him around the face. Maybe that might help...

Active, wanting cuddles but won’t eat partial brumation?

Interesting. I guess Kazoku isn’t really that odd of a duck. Since his birthday was on Christmas Eve transitioning to fruits and veggies has been difficult. He really likes sprouts but it’s not 100% practical for us to spend money on food that doesn’t look very filling in mass or density, even...
