I'm wondering how much shedding affects beardie's behavior... Rocco is going through a major shed right now - torso, legs, under head - and the poor little guy is miserable. He has no interest in his Dubia roaches, and I've been supplementing him with carnivore critical care...

I just switched Rocco today from crickets to Dubias, and he absolutely LOVES them... he ate the best today he's ever eaten - about 10 at one meal time and about 7 at another. Finally the little guy has found some protein he loves. He also likes it when i put him on his log and feed him!

Bought a new Exo-Terra Medium Low tank for Rocco today... his new set-up!

Took Rocco for a wellness check on Saturday and he got a clean bill of health - found a wonderful and knowledgeable Herp Vet in NE Ohio BTW, Dr. Brooks at Kent-Stow Vet. He now weighs 8 grams and is scaling upward nicely. Today I introduced Dubia roaches and he gobbled them up - ate about 10...

So today I was trying to get Rocco to measure him, and he saw me coming ad was running all over his tank! I picked him up and took a quick measurement and when I went to place him back in hi viv, he started to run up my arm! He's only about 5.75 inches now, and I'm so afraid of losing him, but...

So I've been reading about hiding spots and was wondering if Rocco needs one? What are some good ones to make? He's 5.5 inches now...

So Rocco is doing well despite his irregular cricket eating habit - I swear he's a vegetarian! I've gotten a scale and his weight is scaling upward; he's now about 5.5 inches long and weighs 6.44 grams. I'm taking him to the vet for a wellness check on Saturday, but things are looking good...

I'm going to take him to the vet on the 5th. In the meantime, I ordered a gram scale to measure his weight and also got a food supplement (Oxbow Carnivore and Herbivore Care Pet).

Rocco is very active in his viv, exploring his little world and getting around. He basks with his head held high, and the other day, he actually did a left-hand wave! He drinks water quite a bit when I mist him down, and likes to run when I try to catch him... he just doesn't seem to be eating...

I've had Rocco now for about four weeks, and he doesn't seem to be eating regularly. I cleaned his habitat this morning and there are still about five crickets (smalls) running around and he showed no interest in going after them. It seems as though he does munch a bit on the celery I put in...

So I'm guessing that if my Beardie Rocco is shedding - he's starting to around the head area - he's healthy and growing? Also, does shedding affect appetite at all?

This post was a tremendous help!! So glad, I got a digital surface thermometer and am now getting a more.powerful basking light and single fixture and also an H5 UVB lamp, and did away with night lighting... Hopefully makes for a happy Rocco!

Is there a list or something for reliable beardie/exotic pet veterinarians across the country? I live in NE Ohio and am wondering before I ever need one where I would take Rocco... Thanks!

...or no??? I just read another post that advised against it... what’s the majority opinion? Get an Arcadia ceramic heat emitter??
