    EcoZone Vivarium controller

The products seem similar in function as far as the dimmable fluorescent lighting goes. The EcoZone gives you more options for control. It allows you to program by month so you can set both the on and off times for every month of the year to correspond with the seasons. It also allows you to...

    EcoZone Vivarium controller

Wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured this was the most appropriate forum. My vet had written on his web site that “if you want your pet reptile to stay healthy and happy, then you need to emulate its natural environment and diet as much as possible.” It was in that spirit that I bought...

Missing my beardies while at work :(

I can't take credit for the idea. Someone here was doing it (I noticed the link in their sig) and I thought it was a great idea. Did it mostly for my girlfriend, but then they blocked Ustream for her at work. Trying to come up with another solution for her. I also use "virtual cable" (I...

Missing my beardies while at work :(

I set up a webcam and watch Siggy on Ustream

    Too Much Calcium? Not enough?

My schedule for our beardie is to feed Phoenix worms in the morning and crickets in the afternoon. Being less than a year old, we dust his cricket feeding 4 days a week with vitamin dust and the other three days with calcium. I ran this schedule by my vet and also by the lady (I'm drawing a...

    Storing Phoenix Worms

A regular fridge is too cold. They need to be kept around 50-60 degrees for longest life. Room temp would be better than the fridge, because most are too cold and the worms will die. If your beardie really likes them and you decide to buy them on a regular basis, you could invest in a small...

    Schedule for repcal and herptivite

I showed that dusting chart to my vet when I took in Siggy, and he said it looks like a good schedule.

Easy-to-sanitize hide idea to defeat sneaky parasites

Well, sanding the PVC seemed to rough it up enough. But then I read that doing so can release chemicals that were used in the manufacturing process that otherwise wouldn't leech out. So I ended up just getting a second basking rock identical to the one he had and alternated between them...

    5 grams?!?

That seems a little low to me. You may want to throw a nickel on your scale and check it. A nickel should weight exactly 5 grams.

    5 grams?!?

How long is she? When I got Sigrun, he was only 8 grams at 6 inches tip to tip. I thought that was too low, but after a month of regular eating he's about 7 inches long and 15 grams as of Wednesday.

    How to weigh my lizard?

I bought a little digital kitchen scale as mentioned above. It will weigh in either ounces or grams. I tested the accuracy of mine by putting nickels on it. A U.S. nickel weights exactly 5 grams. I'm sure there are other checks you can do depending on where you are. Though to be honest I...

Easy-to-sanitize hide idea to defeat sneaky parasites

That IS an awesome idea. I have to take Sigrun in on Monday for pinworms, Coccidia and Flagellates (or as I told my girlfriend, pinworms, ca-ca and flatulance). I'll put some rough sandpaper to them to see if I can rough them up some for better grip.

    NEW BEARDED DRAGON!!! HELP

Well Taylor, as you can see there are different schools of thought on the water thing. I would agree with the posters that recommend no more than one misting per day, at the most. Remember that these are desert creatures, so they aren't really built for being sprayed with water multiple times...

If you could review Sigrun's menu...

He'll usually eat 7-15 vitamin dusted crickets and 15-20 calcium dusted crickets in the mornings. His average on the worms seems to be between 25-30 per feeding. I am often checking the Beautiful Dragons nutrition page for ideas on foods. Actually, that's where I got the 4-5 vitamin dustings...

If you could review Sigrun's menu...

I was hoping some of you could go over my feeding schedule and see if you see any glaring problems with it. This is for a young beardie approximately 4 months old. Live feeders in the morning are crickets. I gut load them with Flucker’s High-Calcium Cricket Diet, Fluker’s Orange Cube Complete...
