Just do it! I'm shocked your friend, a reptile expert, advises against breeding dubia roaches. Infesting a house in Michigan? Maybe in Florida, but doubtful there. That's the craziest thing I've ever heard! :P

I would be more concerned on why he's not eating, not finding alternatives to get him nutrition. Maybe provide us a description of your setup/temps and possibly a pic of the enclosure?

Also: how old is the UVB? What do you dust with? And did he start acting this way before or after you moved him?
