Fleece is a good idea, I'll try that! I only put in a couple at a time and they end up running quickly to the sides and under. He isn't a very quick eater, he likes to look at it first for a bit then eat it.

The light is open 3/4 of the way around, so it's directed at the back but the only area that is blocked is the area you see. Does that make sense? I can take a picture later when I get home. I think when we put the basking area back up it should easily be within 6-8" of the UVB lights.

I have a dual light hood with a white uvb bulb (while I was waiting to get the reptisun 10.0) and heat emitter, will that work?
