I don't think the red part is shedding since if i lightly touch him there he flinches and shakes his head violently, so im assuming it hurts. I used to use walnut shells then switch to a weird green tortoise substrate, but once i saw the fungus, i took it all out and replaced it for paper towels.

So it definently is yellow fungus correct? If so, how should I prevent it from happening ever again? I'm not even sure how it developed.
