    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

I don't have any other reptiles - just Smaug. He's eating perfectly now and moving just fine. I'm seeing tons of dead mites all over the paper towel - having to change it two or three times a day. The viv is glass - and I do clean it regularly with a bleach solution. I can only hoep now that...

Baby won't eat crickets, but chases. No greens either.

Update! We're very excited - Smaug went through over 20 crickets today! Phoenix worms come in soon, hoping those go over a little better than the cricket-battle did. He's so active now!

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

No. He's still not eating right. There's still two days before my phoenix worms get in and he's not touching any of the greens he's offered, or any crickets. I'm hoping his lack of appetite is just from the mites. If he doesn't eat the worms, should I take him to a vet immediately?

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

I took all the wood out of the tank entirely - replacing his log (the only wood piece there) with a small box wrapped in paper towels which are lightly sprayed with Mite-Off, as the bottle says to do. I will bake/soak the wood log before I put it back in.

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

Mites look like this (the red spots). They move, too. They can get on your beardie from sand and not taking proper care of their homes - uncleaned wood brought in from outdoors, etc. So just keep the tank disinfected, try to stay away from sand or at least keep it clean.

I put them in one at a time but I put three in because I was going to be gone for a while (silly work). He didn't touch any of them. And yeah, he's not touching greens yet either. Just drags them across the tank and sits there.

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

Can I bathe him with the betadine and spray his tank and furniture with the Mite-Off or would that not be safe?

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

It hasn't come in yet, but should within the next two or three days. He's by a tightly sealed window though to make up for it. Unfortunately, it's been raining for the past two days. I disinfected the tank with a small amount of bleach in a gallon of water and replaced the paper towels.

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

He doesn't like the baths much at all. He's moving now though, but seems a little stiff. Closest vet we found is 2 and a half hours away so it's a last resort.

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

I'm scared to use the betadine again. He seemed to stop breathing for a bit (his head never touched the water) and he's not moving much - his limbs look paralyzed.

    MITES?! Betadine didn't work?

Smaug's gone through one treatment of Mite-Off and a bath of diluted Betadine and he is Still absolutely covered in mites! We did see some of the mites in the water, but not nearly as many as were still on him. The nearest reptile vet is hours away and I'm worried.

Baby won't eat crickets, but chases. No greens either.

Smaug continues to attack the crickets - looking at their box intently through the tank but once they are inside his house, he refuses to eat them. He's not had any food in three to four days now except one cricket two days ago. He's active enough around the tank so we're pretty sure he's over...

    Which worms for young Beardies?

I was recommended phoenix worms and told they are good for young beardies. Smaug is only 6.5inches so he's on tiny crickets and phoenix worms.

I'll disinfect the tank before I put him back in then! That's really helpful, thanks!

    Red Spots and Black Area

The tank is spotless, he's on only papertowels, and his UVB light isn't set up because the hood we needed for the tank had to be specially ordered (they were out). He refuses to stay on his basking "box" (a little paper-towel covered card box), continually running across the tank to the cool...
