    RIP Squishy

So I haven't been on the boards in a long time now but thought I would update everyone that Squishy is gone. She suffered from MBD, gout and ultimately kidney disease. She lost weight and developed a mass in her abdomen and the vet and I both thought it was time. She has been gone for a couple...

    Squishy Update!

Squishy is doing much better than we had hoped. She has lost a little bit of weight since June when she was in last but still within acceptable ranges. She was very well behaved for her blood draw - it is amazing what a little bit of Emla cream does... :) I should find out early next week what...

    Squishy Update!

So Squishy goes in for repeat blood work on Friday (only 2 more days!) She has been on the Allopurinol for about 2 years now. It was Mar 2011 that she first got sick and it was shortly afterwards that she was started on it. I'll post next week when I get those results in!

    Squishy Update!

Hi everyone, It has been ages since I've been on bd.org due to life being busy. I wanted to give you a quick update on Squishy the beardie that is suffering from gout and recovered/ing from MBD as her previous thread in the ER is locked due to inactivity...

    Hyalophora Cecropia

The white silkworm is different than these guys. These are silkmoths that are large, brown/red with pretty designs on them...

    Hyalophora Cecropia

Hi everyone, I posted this in the food section then saw there is a feeders section... I live in BC Canada and had a hyalophora cecropia (silkworm moth) on the windowsill at my work laying eggs. After doing some research it looks like there are many people who breed them and keep them as 'pets'...

    Hyalophora Cecropia

Hi everyone, I live in BC Canada and had a hyalophora cecropia (silkworm moth) on the windowsill at my work laying eggs. After doing some research it looks like there are many people who breed them and keep them as 'pets' as they are easy to raise and are quite large. My question - does...

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

Okay, so the vet is very, very happy with Squishy's progress and actually feels that the swelling in her joints has decreased. She gave a very thorough palpation of the abdomen and there is no sign of anything abnormal. We are questioning if she had a very large egg that she resorbed, maybe a...

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

So I had to cancel/postpone Squishy's Jan 18th appointment as I had a meeting come up at work that I couldn't miss. So instead she goes this week (her vet is back on the 18th and she is heading in that day) on Thursday. The lump is still not there although there was a small lump there for about...

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

Hi everyone, long time no chat. So Squishy has her appointment on Wednesday (Jan 18th) but I'm wondering if I should cancel it now... I went a gave Squishy a bath last night and was massaging her abdomen a bit and low and behold her lump is gone... I can't find it anywhere in there. So now I...

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

I think Squishy had a little too much Christmas Cheer this year... :P

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

Thanks for the support guys, she is doing very well in my/the vet's opinion all things considered, I hope it is an egg but my medical background tells me it's not. I called the vet hospital today and there are pros and cons to having the hospital owner dealing with your pet... 1 - they tend to...

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

So I was giving Squishy a bath tonight to try and get her to poop (I have company coming over right after work and I would prefer if there isn't a bunch of smeared fecal matter all over her tank). She isn't pooping regularly due to not eating regularly (brumation) and it has been a couple of...

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

Thanks to whoever removed/reported the leech post. I almost responded to it but thought it was spam. When I came back later it was gone. :) I got Squishy's blood work results already and I am breathing a sigh of relief. Things are looking pretty stable if not greatly improved in terms of cell...

    Swollen Limb - Update Dec 21/11 - Uh-oh...

So Squishy was an all-star at the vet's yesterday. We discussed her swelling a bit and how one toes has gotten slightly worse. We took some blood for a work-up - I should know the results by Wednesday (so long away). Her uric acid levels were down the the 2.x s last time. She is going to remain...
