    Possible beardie impaction

Try olive oil too. With pumpkin or oil I put a bit on a spoon and then hold the spoon just on Mort's nose. Like with drops of water she'll lick it and I move around the spoon so she's licking off pumpkin. :) Re-dip the spoon in puree or oil as needed. If he is still eating other things you...

    Sleeping Schedule

cool. So still 12-13 mid season for basking/UV would be appropriate. It's not summer anywhere right now. And even in summer it's not 16 hours of hot basking + UV. yes?

    Sleeping Schedule

Australia gets an average of 14 hours daylight in summer. (Though in line with Hobart they do get 15) And winter daylight averages are 9-10 hours. 12 hours for a between-season would be in tune with their natural light amounts in the wild.

    Sleeping Schedule

That sounds like an okay schedule. Mine is on a later schedule to suit my "day" - so her lights are on at 10am and off at 10pm. That will extend gradually to another couple hours on for summer time. As long as yours is getting the right amount of daylight hours when those hours are shouldn't...

    The Energizer Beardie

It could also be his breeding season behavior, too, if it's changed from usual. Mort is currently crazy loon and constantly wanting to be out. (She has free range of the house except one room.) She did this last year too for about a month, also eating a bit less than usual because she just wants...

Are rocks ok for a cave?

and BASKING lamp not baking lamp. lol. Don't bake your dragon.

Are rocks ok for a cave?

should be fine just keep an eye on the temperature if they're under the baking lamp. My Mort has rocks all over her viv (geologist here!) and the only thing I had a problem with was a very thick local shale/slate piece. It's fine away from the basking spot though. It was her favourite sitting...

How to make your beardies colours more vivid/colourful

Your beardie looks quite young. Colouring will come out more with age, too. :) I didn't even know Mort would have any orange in her when I got her at 5 months old.

    Question

I actually have a small pet "purse" - it's a furry pouch bag meant for things like rats and tiny dogs I think. I shorted the strap and it sits right on my chest. Beardie has a harness (just to be safe) and sits happily on my chest on visits to the vets and such. (we walk and take the bus) After...

    Adult male dubia as food

My girl eats them happily, but she's about 20months and 17". She does have trouble digesting the wings - from asking around it seems some dragons are okay with them and some aren't. So I clip them off. If you're okay with gross stuff you could cut them in half so that you could use a few of...

    Morio and Buffalo worms?

ah didn't realise morio were superworms - I've heard of those. :) They do have small quantities so I'll give them a try and see if she does ok with them. Can you refrigerate them (like waxworms?)

    Morio and Buffalo worms?

Northampton Reptile Centre now has these online and I wondered how they fare for beardies? Unfortunately I've found the Calciworms really block up Mort so she loves eating them but then pooping is difficult. But worms would be a really great option longevity-wise now that she's getting adult...

    New Beardie-handling advice!

Great name. :) A week isn't long in a dragon's calendar, so give him some more time to adjust. The advice I read was all about putting your hand in next to them and letting them get used to that first. I'd do that until he stops puffing. With Mort I used to just put my hand next to her touching...

    Mort the social butterfly

So the past two weekend I've had artist open studios and Mort sat in her usual window spot in the studio. She has a blankie on the windowsill where it's sunny, but living in Yorkshire it's often not so there's a 60W bulb to warm her spot too. This weekend so met sooo many people! And converted...

Lots of sleeping hours as she nears 1yr old

So everything else ok, just worried first time mom questions... Mort is sleeping a lot! Lazy in her old age. ;) She'll be a year old in a few weeks, as far as I know. So I say good morning to her and take her blanket off (we do lizard burrito at bedtime). She'll poke her head out and warm up a...
