Hello,

Bless you for taking him in. He is a bit small but ok.
For those femoral pore buildups, it will take a bit of work, but they do need to be gently
removed if possible. After you soak him, you could put some antibiotic ointment, coconut
oil or silver gel on them to help soften them. If the skin or pores are soft you can get some
tweezers & gently pull them out. Since they aren't inflammed it shouldn't hurt him at all. They
are a bit long though.
Lighting makes all the difference in the world!

update: hi all! I’ve ordered him a UVB light and have been soaking him and putting coconut oil on his pores. I tried to gently pull them out with tweezers but they just broke off. He’s been eating cabbage and strawberries coated in calcium powder a friend gave me. That friend also gave me some dry food he’s mostly just thrown about. We live like 30min from a grocery store so I will expand his diet the next time I go. I did go to a feed supply and grabbed him some hornworms. He doesn’t seem interested, even let it climb on him. I inserted a picture of him if y’all have any words of advice. Please be kind about his set up, the mat needs to be pressure washed as most of that is dried on and this is the set up he came with. I promise I am working on getting his set up fixed as fast as my pockets and schedule allow. Thanks!!

Like I said, doing what I can for now. I have to get someone to help me clean out the terrarium as I have to take it outside. I will definitely do the newspaper until we can get new flooring, thanks for the suggestion. But we are planning on putting tile in there and getting some sort of backdrop so that he doesn’t see his own reflection. He’s not eating much if anything, so I would rather he eat his two small pieces of cabbage a day with the calcium powder then not eat at all. He has been going outside with me the last few days. I don’t have any temporary tanks or anything that would work as such, so he just sits on my chest with me.

Please check the nutrition website - kale collards turnip or mustard are better options -these are fresh and cheap are you feeding a staple insect?

Hello,

How is he doing today, have you gotten him to eat very much? Taking him outside is very
good for his overall demeanor & gives great UVB exposure, too. Which UVB light were you
able to order for him??

Hi! He’s still not eating very much. The most I’ve gotten him to eat is about 3 pieces of cabbage and 2 pieces of a strawberry. I’m going into town tomorrow so I am going to grab some other foods then. The past owners didn’t feed him veggies, just dry food and crickets so we will see how it goes. I ordered a T5 bulb and a 24 inch setup based on other posts I’ve read on here. I’m not sure of the size of his current setup but I read it would work when we buy him a larger terrarium. I live in the country so the closest reptile vet is like 2+ hours away and it’s saying about the same for any reptile specific pet stores. We have a petco about 45 min away so I may head there before the grocery store tomorrow to see if they have anything.

Update again: he actually just ate one of the horn worms I bought!!

Zoo med! I read that it works best from on top of a screen so I won’t have to hang it. Hopefully so!

I’m excited he’s eating. I’m worried I’m going to somehow over do it and hurt him. Like he’s made it this long with improper care, is giving him too much food, water, light, etc going to hurt him?

Please tell us the screen you have is it a fine mesh like a screen door or a wide holed type the screen will determine the placement and distance for the uvb

Your beardie may not eat too much yet because he or she might still be stressed from moving, but at least they're eating a little bit.

To save on money, I make a fruit salad for my guy. Since I don't like all the weird stuff he does, I get one of everything and chop it and cook it like he likes it, then I drain off as much water as I can. I use cheap sandwich bags, separate it into the serving sizes I like to give him, freeze them up, and store them in a big gallon bag.

When I want to give him some fruits and veggies as toppers or treats, I pull a bag out and thaw it in a cup of hot water till its room temperature, and let him have it! It saves on food waste, and I can still give him the variety he likes.

And those RubberMaid fresh saver containers will keep his greens fresh for up to two weeks.

Hello,

That's great you do have a good UVB light then. The T5 tubes are very good. As Karrie suggested,
you will need to mount it underneath of the screen for maximum exposure.
It does take time for them to adjust to a new home. Let us know how he is doing & hopefully he will
start eating more soon.

This terrarium he’s in right now sucks, and I’ll have to see what I can do about mounting it inside. He’s been spending a lot of time outside with us, even When I get the new terrarium I will definitely make sure he has the proper lighting. I was having trouble figuring out why I couldn’t get his temperatures up and found out the basking bulb they had was just a plain light bulb. Now that I’ve replaced that, he’s doing a lot better. Had 2 hornworms and some veggies today.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
